How Much Tq?

600rwhp might be a little low for a PG in a heavy car,, any idea how much you weigh?

Why not run a th400 that low gear should really help get the car moving.

unless you make a 1000hp a glide will be gay.......i had a glide in my car for 2 years and it was good for racing with 1000+hp but it was boring b.s. on the street. i would NEVER run one again on the street.

your thinking was right..it was WAY doggy on the street, not to mention the over heating cause of the high rpms, and the noise also cause of the high rpms.
but in a race situation it works good.

Way doggy......???? Ill beat pretty much any 6 speed or 400 car in my area, roll or stopped....

Over heating??????
100 degree summer heat in stop and go traffic... just a trans cooler no fan... never above 185 degree's.. @ Cruise in the free way.... 150....
And the noise?? Sounds to me someone didnt built yours right.

I have no noise at cruise.....
plus im only 500 rpm's higher at cruise then i was with my 4L60E and 3.73's out back....
The whole thing about needing 1000 hp and light car to run a glide is Horse ****...
Daily drove mine for 8 months straight every day. rain or shine, 40 miles round trip. Sometimes 100+ Miles cruising around on saturdays...

Thats my .02...... only because ive done it......

So Kyle, in your opinion is this the trans you would run if you had my car??
Its a 370 with a Master Power GT45 (about 70mm). Forged bottom end, LS6 cam, stock heads, Victor JR with an elbow, and a 1500cfm intercooler. What converter are you running, I see its a Chance. I had been planning on running the 4L60E that I have and just upgrading compponents. I am a tranny tech at a GM dealer, so freshening the trans every year would not bother me. BUT if a powerglide is going to be more reliable, quicker, etc, I would go that route.

if you can pickup a 4l80e and build that..... can't go wrong.

I've got a JW Glide on the way and a Coan 8" Steel stator converter on the way should be about 3500lbs.

Really....so you actually had a glide in the car??? Because if you did you'd know that 2nd gear in a glide is the same 1:1 ratio as 3rd in a T400/350 so the rpms will be the same even though the glide has 2 speeds. It's 1st gear that's a higher ratio.

My car weighs 3500lb and I never had any issues with the glide at the 1400hp level. Even driving it on the street is no different than a 3 speed. You just have one less gear change to make.

No 4L80, too heavy, expensive, and eats the power up. I know its a good trans, i just dont want it.

If you know you can build your 4L60e and not be worried about fixing it id say go with it......
Like you said you know how to fix it....

Can you do what Juiced said??? Do you know how to build the 4L80e??

If so go with it and keep Over drive.

A TH400 is going to eat alot of power also.......
Glide will use the least.... like i said above..... if your not bothered by rebuilding the 4L60e , then go with it and get a good converter.
Rossler can build them to take alot of power..
I can see you maing 650-700rwhp...
Ryan K did it and his lasted and isnt broke yet.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I think I will just upgrade to a beast shell and see what breaks. I think I should fine a Yank extreme 3400 then. I have a TCI 3500, but from what ive heard they are not that great.
