I have one on my 76 too. I have whichever I don't use sold already though

lol at the compression. Just reading a little too fast after a long day at work. My main competition will be my car and myself. I have yet to make one pass with my car turboed (or the 3 speed). The car will also be untuned until we park it in the pits, lol. We will be data logging and tuning after every pass.

I think if the car hooks okay I should be in some sort of contention for the built motor single power adder class. Last year the winner (351 fox with big vortech) had about a 9.50 car.....BUT he popped a coupler in the final round and our very own Mr_president blew his doors off with a 10.22, lol (along with getting DQed because he didn't have his cage in yet).

Have you dynoed it at the current 15 psi level??
And then at 10 psi??? i bet there isnt a huge diff in power between those two.....

I would never put anything smaller then an 88mm turbo on anything over 400ci's.......

I was seeing back pressure issues with a GT42-76mm turbo (it has a T6 flange) with only 370ci's....
A T4 flanged 88 would help out alot, but up top your still going to have some flow/ back pressure issues...

Kyle
My intake temps are low due to the monster 4" intercooler but the header wrap on the down pipe looks like it is burning. Not sure if that is normal. I have not dynoed it yet because I feel there is something wrong with it that needs to be resolved first. Power seems very low. This car will not spin the tires at all above 30mph on street tires! Pulls pretty good but not nearly what I want. Could this turbo be choking it that bad or do you guys think I have another issue?

oh yeah and this is probably a dumb question but I am still new to the turbo world, on the 76 there was a reference port on the compressor housing on this one there is not?

You can either tap the comp cover or just get the reference from the intake. Most do it from the intake so we don't tap the covers.

Hey Dr turbo I have one of the T80gts turbos that jose did it works rather well on my 408 but I was wondering what benefits i would see going to the ST80 over nthis turbo right now it gets full boost bout 4200-4400 14psi and holds very nicely to my 6500 rpm shift I have been looking at other turbo options lately please advise. Thanks alot

I would jump to the SX80. The ST80 turbine wheel is better suited to a smaller CI engine. Don't get me wrong it will outflow the GTS turbine wheel, but its still a little small for a big 408. The SX80 is even larger and more powerful.
