Default Rattling noise at idle from my new procharger?

I have a strange problem with my new procharger p1sc in my '00 WS6. When the car is idling their is a metal on metal rattling sound. I've checked around under the hood, i can't find anything in contact with anything inappropriate. The odd part is, the higher the car revs, the quieter the noise becomes. I can feel the vibrations from it quite prominently on the blower itself..... Anyone got any theories for me?

That noise is normal for prochargers.....unfortunately.

The vibrations you feel could be transmitted from the engine or maybe your blower crank pulley is not seated flush???

Call up ATI and see what they say about the vibration. The noise is normal though.

NORMAL?!?!?!?! That totally sucks.

It's loud enough I can hear it over my stupid loud exhaust! This is just not cool.

Any idea why they sound so crappy?

Thanks.

My Pro Charger does'nt have a loud rattling noise . Mine only makes a little noise but thats from the charger working. Do you have enough oil in the head unit? Check the fluid level on the dipstick to make sure you have a full 6 ounces of ATI oil.

Trust me, the noise is normal. Some people get lucky and get quieter units but, they all rattle. I got one of the loud ones. I still don't understand how a gear driven transmission makes that crazy rattling noise.

I know mine had oil becuase I use to take my headunit totally off the car to make sure I got the right amount of oil in it.

Mine rattles too. Sounds like i'm mixing up some cement under there.

That's the rattle of the step-up gears at idle. As the SC spins up, it goes away.

Thanks for all the input. I am going to take her out on the road this afternoon after I doublecheck everything. I'm going to pay a visit to the local procharger expert and make sure the sound doesn't bother him.

I have one of there PB 1200 blowers on a 331 inch motor with a .670 inch lift cam and 2" long tubes and you can hear my blower a mile away and the the cars note 2 blocks away its pretty bad when you can here the blower before the car.

This is exactly why I love this site, to learn vicariously through others. Jesus, this is the first I've read that the procharger rattles like, and someone said "mixing cement". WTF, although I wasn't going to buy a supercharger in the near future, I did like the idea of SC better than a heads/cam setup, but I guess I'll just keep looking around. My daily driver Z24 had a nice metallic rattle from a shot AC compressor, I don't think I want to dump 6 or 7k to duplicate the sound on my Formula.
Regards,

Hey Pinkshirt,
https://ls1tech.com/threads/showflat...31&fpart=1

I called ATI and left Dorian a detailed mesage abou tmy problems. He is cool, and will get ahold of me, and hopefully help me out. I just called the dyno place back to see if I can line up a time to get the owner on the phone with ATI, and his wife(who is a ASE tech, and also certified in fuel injection, forced induction, and whole bunch of other stuff) said that it will be up to her husband if he is in friday, and that he has been very ill. what a crock of BS. I have been extremely polite to these people, and been re scheduled twice to hear all this.
Man these people need some competition, huh??
