Default D1SC Guesswork

Curious to see what all of you knowledgeable forum addicts think my new set up will make, HP of course.

Car is a 2002 Camaro SS Convertible. SDPC 402 6.0L Iron Block. 8.78:1 CR. Forged components with -22cc dish pistons. D1SC- 8 Rib with the ATI 3.400 pulley. (Likely 10-12 psi) Twin intercooler set up. Intake is FAST 90mm with macthing TB and 85mm SLP MAF. Fuel system is return set up with regulator. 60# Mototrons, FAST rails, Racetronix in tank and additional in line pump. Strange S60 rear with 3.73 gears. M6. Kooks headers and Y pipe. Cat free. Open breather PCV system. 93 Octane will be run. TR CAM - supposed to be 227/232, ended up 224/232. She is a street/show car in case you care. Heavy mother too. Will be taking it to Speed Inc. with 3 bar Dyno Tuning at end of month.

Just curious again...please no hating Educated ones, give me your guesstimates on HP/RWHP. Feel free to ask for more info if I forgot something u need.

Any reason you went with teh compression you did? Ill be about the same on the 370 im building, but i hear 9.5:1 is where you want to be with the prochargers. Wondering whats being left on the table being lower compression?

Agreed-no idea why you would want the compression that low. 9.5 or higher is best.

I'd say around 650 rwhp, as a guess. Bob

My figuring was somewhere around 650-680 rwhp as well, Bob. Obviously my concerns are more in the realm of streetability and daily driver/travel status as opposed to making max power for racing. Have heard the same concerns about the CR from others. Have also heard that anywhere from 8.75:1 - 9.5:1 is good. TR set up the block set up for me. More appropriate for my needs would be the best answer I guess.

Bob, what are your thoughts on the compression? I went with -9cc dished pistons on my shortblock rebuild in anticipation of a Procharger, but I don't have the heads I'll use with my Procharger yet. Your advice on this will have an impact on what combustion chamber size I go looking for.

I could probably get down to 9.0:1 or even 8.9:1 with 72cc chambers. Should I be aiming for more compression? (Keep in mind the Texas heat, but I'll have a FMIC)

I am running -9cc pistons right now back to stock heads right now because the patriots were bad and AFR's aren't here yet and got good results. You want above 9.0:1. With the -9cc pistons maybe you should consider the 64cc chambers. No expert though.

I built my engine (LS2 403) with 9:1 CR and am running a F1A with 15.5lbs of boost on 93 octane pump gas, no meth, and just dynoed 914 rwhp.

Anywhere in the 9.0:1 to 9.5:1 will work. There are so many different combinations out there, that it is really hard to say what will work better for you. Bob

S60 seems excellent so far, will be adding the braced girdle type cover for this build. Obviously a heavy unit (238 lbs. I think) but once again it's a street/show set up and may only see a track a half a dozen times. Rear end has a definite whine in 4th/5th under acceleration while road driving, but easily ignored. In 6th and other gears you hear nothing. I can also drown it out with the stereo Definitely puts it to the ground, and I will be looking forward to the same with the new set up. (Had P1SC on stock engine.) I've tried to do everything as smartly as I could when I could afford to so I hope to never break anything. Will have some MT ET Street Radials on occasionally as well. Have heard that rear will be good to around 1000HP if my addiction continues to grow.
