Default sts guys

Just wondering what temps are you guys seeing..
1. under boost w/o intercooler
2. under boost w/ intercooler

3. under boost w/ intercooler and meth.

4. Just driving around with intercooler
5. just driving around w/o intercooler.

Also what kind of timing are you guys running..

Right now I have no intercooler and running 1 gallon of windshield whasher fluid/ 2 bottles of heet. (going to get 100% meth on monday)

Iat's under boost no meth are 130-190
Iat's with meth are 130-145

Iats when with normal driving are around 105-110..

Im running 19* of timing with 0 knock and afr about 11.5-12...

Comp is 9.1/LS6 heads/f13-114/headers/67mm turbo..

Just wondering what you guys are doing.

If i dont get the aussie twin kit then I plan to have trt build me an intercooler kit when I go over to get it tuned. Right now things are in the air for me and i dont want to spend a lot of money on this kit just to sale it..

I know an intercooler it a must for this kit. I dont know where they got you dont need one because of the long pipes??? Maybe in winter?

Anyway I was just really suprised at the high iats driving around.. 100+ hurts the gas milage a little..

Actually from what I have seen its the pipe that goes through the engine bay getting really hot. Thats why Im going to get trt to build me one that doesnt go up between the radiator.. Right now I have it wrapped with heat reflective tape that helped it out about 10*..

Im running 8psi and have a 24"x8"x3" inch core no meth ambient was 75* on the dyno my intake temps never got above 95*. Logging data with hp tuners on the street intake temp never got more than 10* above ambient while moving. Sitting at traffic lights temps whent up to around 100-105* My timing is real low for some reason at 8psi in running 14* Ive tried adding more and I get knock.

Last edited by 2002ws-6; Jun 2, 2007 at 03:24 PM. Reason: forgot timing ?

I havent started to get knock yet but im afraid to put more timing in. I assume my timing is where its at because of w/o knock because of the low compression.

Oh.. Im running 7-8 psi on a 5# spring.. Dunno why the wastegate isnt working right.

Those Iat's are nice.. With meth I could run a **** load of timing.

No intercooler STS @5PSI:
Stop and go traffic - 135
Freeway driving - 120
Drag Racing 145+

TRT FMCI and STS @5PSI
stop and go traffic - 104
Freeway driving -90
Driving like a crazed lunatic - 100-105

Bottom line is the FMIC reduces intake temps approx 35-40 degrees. Anything above 100 pulls massive amounts of timing, unless you modify the heck out of the IAT table on your PCM to ignore this.

not to hi jack but, Smoke did you do all your mods at once. I'm really interested in doing the 317 heads. Im thinking some patriot performance ones, or should I just go stock 317's. I would expect you to be able to run closer to 20* timing with the lower compression.
Back on Track now, what target A/F ratio are you all running? I'm set for 11.5-11.7

Mine was pulling about 5* of timing before i went in and fixed it... With an intercooler I think im going to be very happy... Seems like it helps more than i thought.

ported 6.0L heads are good to bring compression down. I have patriot ls6 sytle myself.

My IATs were just like tiger's. I am definitely going to get an intercooler when this all goes back together.

yes i did the forged short block, patriot heads and cam , along with trans at same time --- we are running 9.1-1 compression and we ran out of fuel at 9 psi injectors were at 106 percent so we kept it safe awaiting fuel upgrade.

i keep my A/F at 11.3-11.7

19 degrees of timing here with FMIC.

Was running it hard the other day logging data for a good amount of time in about 70 degree weather. I NEVER saw IATs over 85 degrees. I'm usually somewhere around 15 - 20 degrees above ambient.

Oh ya...stock LS1 internals, etc, etc...

6psi, etc, etc...
