turbo cam selection (search is down)/Now turbo cam discussion
Since the piece of crap search hardly ever works I was wondering if you guys could give some input on a turbo cam. I was curious what the boundaries were as far as getting too big of a cam (duration, lift, lsa ect). Which is better a traditional split, reverse, or single pattern cam? I would assume that a exhaust bias cam would work better but I see alot of people running single pattern cams. Please give some input if ya can guys since I'm going to need to make a decision here pretty soon. I plan on doing a twin setup with a m6/stock 346 for now and either plan on moving to a 370 or a 402/408. What are you guys running for a 402/408? Is there a middle of the road selection that I could possibly grow with or do the 400+cubes need a little more cam? I understand a lot of cam selection when it comes to n/a but turbos are uncharted territory for me. thanks

http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com....html?item=679 I found it here. Looks alittle bigger than the trt cam. Might be a good choice sounds real good on that camaro.

Thanks for digging that up I didn't know who epp was. That seems like a pretty big cam for a turbo setup though even if it is on a 115. I wonder what the torque is like down low? Thanks Jimmy I really appreciate you taking the time to look that up.

I forgot to ask you but how do you like your system that you put on? I'm just getting into F.I. and I was curious on what everyone else thinks about going this route. I hope that I have a "pleasant" time with this first setup since I'm jumping in with both feet on a twin setup with 2 560 compressors from gen tt. I think I'm in for a real ride though! Thanks again

Here is another one if your wanting to go alittle smaller. http://www.lingenfelter.com/Merchant...Category_Code= and here is the trt cam http://www.trtturbo.com/F-BodyStagepage.html There is one guy on here that has the sts turbo with I think 5.5 p.s.i. 505 rwhp out of this cam.

I like it alot just have a few bugs to figure out than she is ready for a cam. I wasn't gonna do anything else to it but now I wanna get close to 500 rwhp on 5 p.s.i. Don't really wanna turn the boost up anymore than I have to. Right now I got 400 rwhp and 465 rwtq on 5 p.s.i. through a 9". Some people on here seem to think that isn't alot for 5 p.s.i. but from what I have been told you will lose 20-30 rwhp from the 9". Not saying it is true just what I was told.

what's the curve look like on a turbo car Jake? How is the driveability with this cam with that much duration. I know the lsa will help but I currently have a 233/239 on a 112 and I am kind of tired of it. I like the lope but I don't like the loss at the bottom (idle to taking off) It is a pain to drive with 3.42's since it always wants to die all the time. Thanks again guys. Keep the info coming. Hopefully someone has some real world numbers with their cam specs. Sincerely Chris

yes jake please give some insight with that cam. I'll have a 347 stock LS1 with APS twin turbos ported 6.0L heads and hopefully around 9.5- 9.1 compression. I want a choppy idle but make good power. Is this the cam for me. If not let me know or Pm me thanks

00WHITETA dump those 3.70s and get something closer to 3.55 or 3.4s youll see faster spool. Any pics of your setup? Those are good #s for 9" btw
personally i would recommend either the EPP cam or the TRT cam. Both have been proven. Some dont like the Lope of the LPE GT7, its not very aggressive.

Im seeing full spool at 3700-4000 right now. I should have went with a smaller gear when I broke my 9". But alls they had at the performace store by me was 3.70 like I already had. I could have went to a 4.10 but I know that wouldn't be a good choice. I have the sts turbo. Really no different from anybody elses except I went under the rear end instead of over it, couldn't even get the pipe to sit in there good with the 9". Thanks for the compliment. I was told by my tuner that was real good for 5 p.s.i. and stock motor with a 9". He said he hasn't tuned one yet like it, that has made that much. So which do you guys think is better the trt cam or the epp cam?
