Default turbonetics warranty

Has anyone had to send in their turbo for warranty work and how long was the turn around? I am having to send back my TC-76 since we cannot stop the smoking issue. We put in a new -10 an gravity drain and tapped the pan as high up as we could next to the bolts and turbo is smoking so bad the oil pressure drops while under boost. This is a brand new turbo????? The turbo sits much higher than the pan so the gravity part works fine. Thanks

Does it require a restrictor in the oil feed ?

It might, the shop does not like the idea of installing one there, but maybe they should try before sending it back for warranty.

My 2 turbonetic's turbo's came with oil restrictor's already in place. I think you are supposed to have one. If not you will flood the turbo with oil and cause the problem you are having!

The fittings installed in the turbonetics turbos are oil filters, and MUST be in place at all times to be eligible for the warranty, they have some little green dabs of something on there by the threads to see if they have been off the turbo

FWIW, mine smoke too...im going to try a scavenge pump cause both of my -8 drain lines are level at one point

How can I tell if the seals are bad or if we just need to put an oil line restriction in there? I would imagine by trying a restriction first and don't go smaller than .060 to prevent damage to the bearings? Am I right? If the smoking goes away with the restriction then the seals are good?

DO NOT REMOVE THE OIL FILTER AS SAID BEFORE YOU WILL VOID THE WARRANTY.

The oil filter on mine has tamper seal on the threads so if I were to mess with it the tamper seal would flake off and it would let Tnetics know that I took it off.

ON all my turbo's from my Garrett GT42, Master Power T70, to this Tnetics TC76MPS I had to run a restrictor. Most turbo guys here on tech do run a restrictor of some sort.

Turbos do not need a ton of oil to keep em lubricated, journal bearing or bb.

I run a .109 restrictor on mine and it doesn't smoke. Its the same N2O jet that i've used on the other two turbos, my turbo sits pretty low too. Lowest i'd go is a .062-.065 restrictor, but some go all the way to .038.

thanks we are gonna play with restrictors before we determine the turbo seals are bad which I find hard to believe since its a brand new TC76.

Did you run your turbo before the restrictor was in place and if so what was the smoking like? Was it all the time basically?

Nope the restrictor was put on when bolting it up. I figured if it smoked with no restrictor with the GT42 and the MPT70 then it would with the TC, so in it went and happy to report no smoking at all. My turbo also sits well below yours and my drain line angle SUCKS but it all works with no smoking.

My TC76 has a screen on the oil feed fitting that is what yours has and what you are calling a restrictor?

The screen is obviously the filter.

A restrictor, is a restrictor, something you will have to source yourself.

I guess it's a screen or filter. All we did is hook up the oil line's to it without any type of restrictor and it dosn't smoke or anything. run's great.Hope i did not just jinx myself.

That is how mine is hooked up however it is smoking alot all the time. I am running the factory PCV I wonder if there is too much pressure in my crankcase and that is pushing too much oil into the turbo? I wonder if I should vent the crankcase better before trying oil restrictors? What kind of vent are you running.
