Default corvette twin turbo

Ok my buddy just got a twin turbo setup for his 02 vette... based on the pictures provided does this seem like a well built kit.. im not gonna say the name of the kit or the price since its a nonsponsor

NOTE: not all parts are in the pics, just a few that he had opened and was showing me obviously the second turbo and the intercooler are not shown.. i will update with more pics hopefully tomorrow

headers are stainless and the welds look great
turbos are t61 t4 turbos
Bar & Plate Sheet Metal Intercooler + Intercooler Piping

IT DIDNT COME WITH
silicone couplers, t-bolt clamps, and turbo oil feed and drain lines for the turbos. he will also need to purchase two wastegates and a blow off valve

http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j6...ch/vette%20tt/

^^^^all images are in this album^^^^ ill organize it later on

there are still a few more boxes of stuff including the other turbo, the intercooler, some more piping, new brackets for the radiator and a alternator relocation bracket and a few more things

I just put one of those kits on,what a pain, took about 80 hours to do.nothing fits right, have to relocate your abs, move your batterey to the trunk, take out the factory radiator expansion tank and put one where your battery was, change the power steering reservoir, and modify every part they send you.good luck.

has anybody actually seen these kits installed to see how they perform and hold up or is everybody going off of what they think will happen because of the price.. DrTurbo have you seen these kits installed before? (seems like if anybody has it would be you lol) and twinturboz28 do you have any pics, also how are they holding up.. what year vette? as much info as possible would be greatly appreciated..

there are zero threads on these kits (there was one but it got locked then deleted by the mods)

is it possible that they may turn out like the stainless ebay headers that everybody was talking crap about at first untill people started trying them and now they are one of the most popular ones around..

so if people could please give me opinions as well as actual facts that would be great...

Haven't seen those particular kits, but the PTK kit I have and its a copy of it. The turbos though we see here first hand all the time. They are worthless.....trust me on that. We have dealt with pretty much EVERY major chinese manufacture of turbos and pulled them apart. They are all pretty much the same. The tolerances are all over the place, the bearing material is sub-par and their is no balancing whatsoever.

thank you... finally some facts.. its not my kit, and the guy that bought this knew he was taking a chance since they are no namers... i really hope this kit turns out well..

all the piping seems to be good quality, it looks like if anything fails it will be the turbos and i guess only time will tell.. ill update as soon as he starts install and obviously after.. i really hope this kit works out though

the ebay stainless headers are an example of the 0.01% that turn out to be really cheap and good quality

i hope this is another one, but it is a long shot

Turbo systems are complicated enough w/o using suspect parts. My guess is it'll end up being more trouble thans its worth and we'll be seeing a generic add for a "custom" corvette turbo systems in the classified. Hell it already happened on the corvette forum. Proven kit = money saved and less hassle in the long run.

well i had a buddy stop by who knows turbos and has turbo'ed everything from sbc's to h22's to his newest project (a dunebuggy with a 1.0l geo metro motor.haha) and he took a look at the turbos.. he says the tolerences are great, everything is nice and tight and they are made by air research so it looks like they are not as cheap as many seem to think they are...

well ill keep updating as i get info

EDIT: upon further investigation the turbos are made with garret internals
