I think the reason they have determined for collapsing is not the boost - anything under 15lbs - but the wrong size bypass or not plumbled correctly when you let off the throttle- then it blows.

Dang, that has never happened to us. We've run a lot of boost with the plastic plenums without every having a problem. I've heard of it happening, yours is the first one I can think of that I have seen a picture of. I do keep the plastic plenums in stock, if you want to go with another plastic one. Bob

Seen it many times before. Get a metal one and hope that one doesn't go the same route.

I was on my way to the track to have some fun and was testing it out since I tightened the belt. Also the exit port that goes to the throttle body was warped......I guess heat, plastic and pressure dont go together. As far as the bypass it is all the ati stuff and is all hooked up right and the bypass is fine....i checked it..I am either going to buy a metal one or have a friend make one....he works at a metal shop

I still think the primary cause for the plenum to explode/collapse is caused by letting off the throttle to quick on the dyno at WOT slamming the throttle blade closed while at the same time you have 8-10 lbs of compressed air rammings its way into the plenum with no where to go.

The stock ATI bypass outlet tube is only 1 1/2 inches compared to the two three inch pipes feeding the compressed air to the plenum at 8 -10 lbs (or 15 for some). The fraction of a second delay for the bypass to open is just enough time to allow the accumulating volume and pressure in the plenum to exceed its limits - and it collapses and explodes.

Putting a restrictive filter on the bypass when venting to atomosphere probabaly doesn't help the situation during this time of overboost and probably a reason why ATI decided to vent back into the charger rather than to atomosphere. The bad, however, is the recycled overflow reheats itself and getting hotter and hotter as it recycles through the charger off boost.
