pump gas to c16 tuning changes

Default pump gas to c16 tuning changes

going from pump gas to c16 what can i expect for required tuning changes?

will i need to add or pull fuel?

will it need more timing? the 118rocket fuel doesn't need or want any more timing than pump gas but the 114 philips wanted more timing than pump.

i am hoping the tune isn't all that diferent than on pump other than i can turn up the boost but i am expecting to have to make a whole new map.

C16 has a higher spec. grav. So it will be richer. More then likely you will be able to add much more timing then you could before. Its a heavy fuel and you will like it.

i have always wondered when you change fuels and it goes leaner or richer is it because of the spacific gravity of the fuel.

i had to lean mine 1 point of a/f for c16 vs 93....i was surprised it made it that much richer

As stated, you will be a bit richer so just lower the PE vs RPM multiplier a bit. Make sure you use a wideband O2 reader so that you do not lower it too much. You will also be able to increase the timing a good amount. Also monitor things so that you do not go too far. Baby steps

How much timing do you run with pump gas now Jim, and is that with meth?

i run the same timing and fuel map for everything, i also target my a/f at wot and let it correct

if there is a boost level i never go to on pump gas, then i guess you could say that part of the tune is also race gas specific.

on my truck i run 15deg on pump gas i have tried more timing and a little less boost but it makes more power with boost than timing. i have never tried going lower than 15deg. this is with meth and pump gas.

on the 5.3L pinks car we run 15deg on pump gas no meth. it worked for the truck so we just stuck it at 15deg. then we put in some rocket 118 fuel and tried adding some timing and with 2deg it only picked up 5hp so we took that back out and left it at 15deg. the rocket 118 needed just a little fuel pulled and no timing added.

some fuels seem to want more timing where others are happy with it set low.
