408 with Procharger??

408 with Procharger??
I will be building a 408 over the winter and plan on running a procharger next year. My question is, in the build what do I need to watch for and what do I need to be aware of as far as the engine build goes? Any extra precautions to take? I will be running a pretty big procharger...but I haven't decided which one yet. Thanks

You may want to try searching the Forced Induction section on this site.

My D1/408 combo has made really good power, better than some peoples F1 setups. A D1 is definitely not a mistake, and unless this is a max effort drag car, either blower is going to be too much for the street anyway.
To the poster, one thing my builder did was go with 1/2" head studs to help with clamping.

I would start with at least a F2. Run a vac pump, min 2" primaries / 3 1/2" collector headers, A/W intercooler or run on alcohol, blower cam, ~9:1 compression, 1/2" studs MSD digital 7, Fast system, ect.......

The problem on the LS1 f body cars has been the widest belt has been an 8 inch. With the 8 inch wide belt I really don't recommend going any bigger with the blower than an F1A. ATI Performance Products have just recently come out with a 10 rib wide belt assembly to use with ATI ProChargers on our f body's, which is going to change everything! Bob

I would look at a F1-C or a F1-R if you want to go pretty radical in a 408.

I haven't heard anything about the 10 rib setup..hmmm.
The F1-r is the particular one I had in mind. Not set in stone or anything. Thanks guys. This is the kind of input I was looking for.
So higher compression like 9.5:1 for a drag only car??? I had thought about an LS2 block for my build, but wouldn't the iron block be better with the higher boost?
