My APS TT Install Thread
it looks like you still have the maf and stock injectors for the tune. what software did the tuner use? what were your injector duty cycles? is the tuned bin available for comparison? do you have a wideband hooked up? if not did the tuner plug in to the bung on the exhaust pipe or insert at the end of the pipe?
i've got 60+ injectors and a 2bar ready to go in but am thinking of holding off if the "stock" system will work ok for now under limited use. probably easier to tune without changing everything at once.

I don't think you can run the stock injectors at all. But you could possibly get buy with the stock pump but likley should change the gate springs to 5psi or so. Buddy runs 5psi on stock pump with 42 injectors in his 2000SS with sts rear mount for long time now.No ill effects and his motor is bone stock.

finally started the disassembly on mine with the engine in the car. my hands and arms look like sh** today after getting the coil packs/plugs/air pump crap off. man, some of that stuff in the back is hell to get at.
hopefully should have it installed over the next month. gonna be gone alot so things will probably move slowly

Yeah believe me I know your pain! My arms were sore after MANY of those nights of wrenching. Many parts with very little room to actually move a wrench. I have nice strong forearms now! Ha ha. And all of the scratches all over my arms from numerous parts and edges in the engine bay there are finally healing up.
I cut those cowl sharp things off long time back. They are not metal but plastic and very sharp. I also threw away the back one or two coilpack bolts on passenger side. They are unneeded. I also took off my air tubes also in the way if you don't have emmissions checks. Air pump is gone and egr is gone. My car being 99 had egr.
Gear wrenches are good things and those swivel ones.Lots of cool tools out there these days that help in tight spots..1 inch extensions ,etc.

And yes I used all of my ratchet extensions, elbows, etc. I think I F-ed up one of the elbows in the process. Need to go get that one replaced. My ratcheting wrenches sort of worked in a few places but the gears were too large and not enough room for them to click in others. It was a toss up. Either way it was a lot of arm workouts for me!
huggerz - did you have any trouble getting the rear control arm into the mount on the k-member? the front mount went in fine but the angle is too great to get the rear part of the control arm to slide all the way in the mount. i even put a jack under the control arm and tried jacking it up but it lifted the whole car. hmm. any suggestions? (should have taken a picture.)
finally got my k member in. ok - now here's the stupid question of the day. where does that big washer go that came with the kmember?! the rear mount? above/below the mount? didn't use it? also, is the front mount (with the extra prong that goes in the frame) suppose to sit flush up against the frame? there is a ridge about 1/4 inch down that looks like it should slide up into the frame but on your picture it looks like mine, i.e. the rim/ridge is below the frame. i know - i should have taken a picture. (look at the last picture in your post 91).
thanks.
thanks.

Well you have had a bit more seat time so maybe a few more impressions and questions?
So do you not notice much more vibration from those new poly motor mounts?
Can you hear the turbos spooling up? can you hear those blow offs?
So are you still pleased with the kit..any problems however little that have come up?
I am not going to have my kit installed now until next spring. Too bad as it would have been nice to play with the car a bit even on stock engine. But figure might as well be a bit more patient and do it in spring with new engine. Then can run some big boost and really make the car fly. I am still undecided on the fuel system. APS has not given prices it seems on the add on rails part of the twin pump system. Also heard some stuff on vette forum about lines in bucket rupturing but think that has been addressed and fixed.
So would you say even with stock motor you car is pretty scary fast now? I have only had a ride in a couple of low psi sts cars both at 5psi one on stock ls1 and one on stock lt1. And had ride in near stock procharged ls1.It was fairly fast and think it did have around 500 rwhp but procharger makes it power very differently from the twin turbos.
Any little kill stories you might want to share..fictional ones of course..wink wink.

mine is ready to fire up also but have decided to switch out the new 918 valve springs with the new 928s which won't be here until late next week. oh well, always other little stuff to do. have made a "list" of issues i ran across during the install that i wish the directions had spelled out more clearly. i'll post them later for those who care! been hoping aps would get the mafless intake tubing done and released but looks like i'll just order some silicone piping from a vendor instead. sure did appreciate all the pics you took huggerz. helped clear up some stuff for me.
where did you get the silicone hose from and how much?
also, have you tuned it and with what - hptuners? willing to share your tune? i am a little uneasy going from a stock tune to a 1) speed density, 2) 65+ injectors, 3) removing the evap, air, rear o2s and 4) 2 bar map without a comparison from a similar one that is currently running!

Using hptuners. I switched over to the 2 bar SD OS before I put the twins on, tuned it for the injecotors, !evap. I tuned the car on motor and for the bottle. Today I just threw in a different timing table I got from a friend and put the car back in closed loop. I Don't have the exhaust on yet, and my wideband is picking up air from being to close to the end of the downpipe. Hopefully w/ in the next week I'll get the exhaust on and start tuning. This is my first FI car, so a friend will be helping with the boost tuning. The car feels like it's going to make boost really easily.
