01 gt w/ vortech 8 psi???

01 gt w/ vortech 8 psi??? thers a guy around town that talks **** all the time about his 01 gt. the car looks good and all that but, it has all bolt ons (headers,gears,t body,etc.) and a vortech w/ 8 psi of boost. he swears it has 444rwhp!!! no motor work, that doesnt sound rite to me? what should he really have w/ this setup? (close to?) my ss now has heads and cam and im puting out 428rwhp. ive called him out several times. but he makes excuses like his belts are slipping yada,yada,yada! anyway i wanted to ask people who had this same setup (or close to this setup on an 01 gt) and see what kind of power they were making at the wheels.

Re: 01 gt w/ vortech 8 psi??? If he's a 5 speed car with longtubes, bullit intake manifold and other boltons, there's no reason he can't be at or near 450rwhp with a GOOD tune. I think it may take a bit more then 8psi however...Belt slippage isn't all too uncommon either.

Re: 01 gt w/ vortech 8 psi??? 444 is definitely possible with aftercooler and 8psi. Give him a run, you ought to smack him like no other. I ran a 5spd 99gt with 10psi vortech and no aftercooler and put about 3 cars on him. At the time I had stock heads and TR224 cam ( 380rwhp ). Make sure to get it on video!!

Re: 01 gt w/ vortech 8 psi??? NO Way!.. Come on guys 444 to the rear wheels on a GT? Yeah.. your right.. as long as he has a complete built up Forged Motor, Ported Heads, Cam and a T-Trim w/15psi.
Every bolt on will put the GT to about 250 to the rear wheels. An 8psi Vortech will add about another 150 to the wheels. When I had my 01 GT and was researching a vortech I followed closely what all the other vortech guys were putting down and it was very typical to see 330-360 area.
In Fact it was pretty typical that the GT had to bolt on a Vortech just to hang with a bolt on LS1.
Every bolt on will put the GT to about 250 to the rear wheels. An 8psi Vortech will add about another 150 to the wheels. When I had my 01 GT and was researching a vortech I followed closely what all the other vortech guys were putting down and it was very typical to see 330-360 area.
In Fact it was pretty typical that the GT had to bolt on a Vortech just to hang with a bolt on LS1.

On a mustang dyno, a car was tuned just before mine. It was an 01GT with 12 lbs on it. It rang the bell at 400/400. This is roughly equivalent to 440/440. It was one of the strongest GTs that had been through that shop.
Like I said, it's possible to use four less lbs of boost with the right added bolt-ons, but I'm gonna say he's pumpin up the number.
I say race him and you'll put 3-5 on him...

My buddies 2000 Saleen with stock two valve motor, P1SC@10PSI of boost, basanni X with high flow cats and power train dynamics tuning = 402 at the wheels with 91 unleaded. He hurt the motor with a more aggressive Larocca chip and cracked a ring land. So we pulled the motor and put in a cobra crank, h-beam rods, JE pistong and SHM cams. All this with the same blower and 10 PSI = 410 at the wheels with 91 unleaded. Just food for thought.
