Default Fixed small leaks, and holy sh*t

I built a few end caps so I could pressurize my intake and exhaust system. Pumped her up to 10psi and found 3 small leaks It took about 3-5 min for the pressure to drop to zero. One weld near the turbo inlet. One on my exhaust collector flange, and on the intake piping by the BOV. I fixed these, seafoamed a 40,000 mile car, and put in a fresh set of tr6's. Holly hell I think my car was running on 7 cyl before. The car seems to have so much more low and mid range power, now it also pulls like an ox to redline. I highly recommend spending $25-50 to build caps to pressure check any sts style system.

I got the turbo spooling but never hit any "boost in the intake" I still have cats so I don't think any carbon chunks large enough to damage the turbo would get through. The tail pipe after the turbo was full of a liquidy black driveway sealer type gunk afterwards. I would not recommend doing this in socal there are no back roads here, and the cloud I made was f'ing huge, it filled up a four lane road for an 1/8 mile

My turbo inlet is 4" and my exhaust pipe is 4" so the parts list is as follows
2 4" silicone couplers $20
2 4" od pvc pipe caps
4 4.25" worm clamps
1 0-30psi guage 10.99
1 tire schrader valve free (took from work)

remove air filter and put the end cap in its place
put end cap with pressure guage and valve on tail pipe.
cap all pcv vent lines.pump to 10 psi and listen for leaks, then spray with soapy water to pin point the leaks

if u just wanted to test the cold side could u just do the inlet from the turbo and cap off at the TB?and are u using the shrader valve to pressureize it?

Yes you can isolate the intake and the exhaust side. I did the intake side first then the exhaust, then the whole system. It's the same valve as on your tires. Put a compressed air source on it and fill to about the boost your running for the intake. Then double it for the exhaust, thats assuming a 2:1 pressure ratio.

closely reviewed the pics and the info regarding the pressure caps for vehicles running forced induction, that is a really good fn idea. I gotta try that myself and see if i am losing any kind of boost. thanks.

good job mang!
old school intake leak finding method..kewl.
the "blow bubbles" stuff your kids play with in the back yard works well too,

Very cool.... thats a nice setup to have. I dont think I have any leaks but it would be nice to be 100% sure.

I built one for my rear mount, almost identical to that... a trip to lowes or home depot and a little patience, you can pressurize the system and find out real quick what's goin on in the charge pipe.
