Default Powerdyne 2.9" pulley track result

Here is what I got so far. I drove 2 hours to the track. I did 8 passes. And drove home 2 hours. The internal belt was fine it is still working. But I ran into one problem:-( I stretch the serpentine belt. So on my fourth run I was only seeing 4 to 5lbs of boost where I normally would see 8lbs. To take care of this problem I am going by a Katech tensioner and replace the belt. I had stretched 3 other belts with the 6lbs pulley so I am not convinced that it is because I am running a smaller pulley.

Track results (I was running street tires)
2.3 60’ 13.08@117.2 I was granny shifting because I had problems getting it into third. 8lbs of boost

2.1 60’ 13.08@112 4 to 5lbs of boost

2.0 60’ 12.75@114 4 to 5lbs of boost

1.9 60’ 12.82@108 I had problem getting it into fourth gear. 4 to 5lbs of boost

If I can fix the belt slippage I will head to the track again.

Get that belt tightened, I can't wait to see how long the internal belt survives

Do you have to pull the blower to change the belt? Mine is looking a little ragged already...

You're still doing better than me - I am still fighting a high RPM miss that kills me over 5000 rpm. I guess I could always shortshift it, but what fun would that be!

Yes, you have to pull the blower to change the belt.

Yes. I went with a 74.7" When I started I could barely get the 74.7" belt on. I think I stretch the belt at least a 1" to 1.5". The tensioner has about 1/4" to the relaxed position. I figure that the stock tensioner spring isn't pulling hard enough when it is in that position. By going to the adjustable I can put the same amount of tension even if it stretches that much in the future.

I hope the tensioner works for you. I have one, and mine still slips at 6000 rpm with the old pulley. I put a new belt on this spring, and when I went to torque the tensioner, the thing bottomed out before hitting torque. Doh! So I left it, and although the belt is looking a bit worn, it is still giving me six pounds of boost or so.

The problem isn't so much in the the tension, it is in the back-side-drive of the blower. The back of the belt just can't seems to get enough grip. We really need to come up with a Kevlar or Fibergalss belt that won't stretch as easy and get a bit more torque on it, then it might hold.

If you get a part number for a shorter belt, can you pass it along? Thanks.

The belt I used for my 6lbs pulley was a goodyear gatorback.
Part# 7600755. This one is 75.5" versus 76" Powerdyne recommends.

I am also using the goodyear gatorback belts. I had to drop from the 115" belt powerdyne sent to the 113" goodyear. I also lengthened the slot on the tensioner to get a little more adjustment. Mine hits 7 lbs at 4,500 rpm then the belt slips just enough to drop down to 6 lbs at 5,200 rpm. Never go above 3k rpms enough to worry about it.
