Mike(Black LS1 T/A) I like your post about street cars vs drag cars. This needs to be discussed more.So here is my first torch to start a fire. My car is street driven EVERYDAY 25mi one way to work 25mi back home from work= 50miles a day plus the around town driving I do, as it is my only car. I have driven it on ET Streets and skinnies 195mi to race in roswell nm and back home=400mi NO TRAILER.
I see it this way, I also class it like this at my local track, car goes to the track on a trailer its a race car. Car breaks then it can be towed or trailered or driven HOME but it is still a street car. My car is personally worked on by me with the occasional help from my brother or my friend neal(pnyklr on the board) NO SHOP INVOLVED the only time its in any kind of a shop is the dynoshop. Going against these full effort shop cars while fun is kind of useless. Us everyday guys don't have the resources or the available expertise to draw from that the shop effort cars do. I know this won't sit well with some members but oh well. My car goes on a dyno once to check a/f and other nessecary basics if I do something major like go to a different pulley set up, then its back on the street and out to the track on friday nights if I can make it.
Also what is this post up anytime you wish, I don't doubt that these guys are running these times at all but a lets see the timeslip info so we can verify that we are running the times we are. I post up a video and all timeslip info so there is no doubt what I run. Lets get all the timeslip info up.
Let make sure we have nothing but LS1tech FI members here who contribute or even hangout with the occasional post or two on the board, none of this friend of a friend stuff. There is a userlist up at the top right to check out screen names. If a name isn't there they shouldn't be on the FI list, if they can't post up on their own car or what is done to it on their own then no spot on the FI list. Its cool that LS1tech has some of the fastest LS1 f-bodies in the country but....lets not be ball hangers.
To the shop guy/cars, post up on how you are getting the heads to stay on at 15+psi, what kind of fuel system you are running, PCM mods or how you have gotten past the stock MAF sensor maxing out e.t.c. there is one shop that specializes in LS1's here in alb but they are a joke(427 FI'ed C5 goes 10's in the 1/8th), this is a driveway effort( I don't have a indoor cargarage lol) so every little bit helps, I know this might be proprietary info but I live no where near any of the top shops so you will never see me or my car but you do get my $$ because I buy from most of the sponsors to the right so post up if we are on the list we are paying for your R&D through sponsor support.
We need a a dedicated post for this discussion tho, so the content in this one isn't lost.

car goes to the track on a trailor its a race car? that is bull, there isnt a track within a 100 miles of where ai live. My car was driven on the street, 200 miles a week but it was astreet car even if I put it on the trailor. If I broke where you going to pay for my tow?

I agree with FF, He has a point. Im not sure how use car guys can compeat with shop cars. Not a big deal, because just nowing im on the list and im with the big guns feels good. I know what your saying.
About the tralior, dont knock it till you try it. I did the same as you for 3 years, Now im starting to travle with the car so i got a tralior. I do use it to get to my home track now, (60 miles from my house) But not because of miles, but for inssuranc. I have raced at home 3 times with my new tralior, 1 time i didnt need it, one time my buddies car broke, so i loaded it up and he towed his home i drove mine. third time BOOOOOM I smoked my rear and pushed it up and got it home. They are nice to have. I drive mine atleast 200 miles a week, but tralior to the track is nice.

frcefed98 makes some valid points.
I see a guy with less than a dozen posts put up a time that lands him near the top of the list, I really want to see a timeslip... if they had been posting here, I feel ok. But, someone I don't know from the boards? Trolls abound.

I also agree we can't compete with shops that have unlimited resources of time, lifts, dyno sessions, other professional resources, and maybe even sponsors. But, I don't want to come off like a butt-hole if no one seems to mind.

I'm tempted to do two lists... the home guy that TRULY drives his car nearly every day. And another for the shops and guys that have mad money to pop in $20K engines.

But, someone will always find a way to get around rules. So... unless there is more debate, if it has valid license plates and can be driven to the track OR work, it will all go in this list.

We're not blind... we can see the guys like us who do our home mechanic'ing and the guys that have near unlimited shop resources. Unless there is a consensus for two lists, I'll continue to just "ooh and aah" them while the car I drive every day drops lower on the list.

About the trailer, I wish I had one. It wasn't fun when I ripped 3/4 from my tranny and had to wait for AAA to get me after driving to a rest stop in 2nd gear.

If it HAS to be trailered to get to the track, to me it isn't valid for this list. BUT... it sure is nice to have a trailer for ANY vehicle if it breaks.

BUT, I think the timeslip idea is immediately valid. We can all discuss some more.

Agreed frcefed98, you make some valid points, but I also dissagree with some things. I think a sshop list and a regular list is a good thing. I don't think a car that is sponsored by a shop or parts manufacturer or whoever should be looked at differently then a regular person. Just because they get a little knocked off of the price of parts or dyno time doesn't mean they are gonna have the billy bad *** car.

As for trailering thats just common sense and insurance in my book. Parts break and you have to be preparred for it or you'll get caught with your pants down and get raped for the huge tow bill.

Sorry racing is expensive and racing new cars is even more expensive. Everyone makes sacrifices for what they want in life, putting off buying a house and spending every bit of free time building the car up was mine. There will always be someone faster then you and not everyone has the time or need to become a post *****.

with that said

Mike Brown should be #2 on the list now. I watched him run 9.85 @ 138 last Friday at Norwalk.

And I can vouch for Anthony's run (DarkFormula) made the same day

I would reword the #1 entrant, to his user name to keep it in parallel with everyone else...

1badls1 = Ron

And it would be:

Team: 1badls1/427

427 is the driver (Kurt Urban)

Even the remaining cars in the top 20 are low to mid-11 sec cars! MAN!!!

Thumbs up

Crunch clocks in on the Boosted List, even with a whack clutch going bad, at 11.37 @ 124.8x MPH (Crunch, give me your 60')

We have 25 people on the list, now.

Only a few have no pics:

Team: Warbird/Chris ARE 360 at #10

Black02SS at #12

98 Black Camaro SS ast #18

98BlkMobile at #21

MstgKillr at #24

Crunch moved off the "Not Ranked" List and has a pic.

AzzHauler and JRL96TA have no pic.

We rounded out the November month with BlkKnight and SmokinHawk still Benched.

Also, ALL the top-ten are 10 seconds or faster.

Any corrections, guys, let me know.

What month next year do you want to start a new list?
When are all the tracks re-opened?

Not content to sit around in the "Not Ranked" section of the Boosted List, TWS gets in under the wire for 2003 with a run of a SECOND FI car at 11.71 @ 121, 1.70 60'. It's a 2002 Z28 M6 chooping up the intake air with an ATI D-1SC Twin-Intercooled kit!

This thread is no longer a Sticky. I will soon post another that will point to both the 2004 AND 2003 Boosted Lists.

I know this ain't a slip but I ran a car on the highway that runs a 11.00 @123 consistently and I pulled him a car a half from 50-120. Did this 3x times to prove I didn't get the jump to make it fair.

I know I know I will get timeslips to validate my claim. till then.

I'm just a Vortech with bolt ons.
