You can indeed keep your a.c. Thanks. Bob
The reasons I wouldnt do it... Its 50lbs of **** in a 5lb bag. Space is very limited and it makes it a bitch if you need to work on anything else. I wouldnt run an "off the shelf" kit. Too many tolerance variations and parts start to not fit very quickly. I dont like the hit of full spool. Its no different than hitting the N20 (been there done that too). Once full spool comes on, say good bye to traction. No traction = no load = no spool. I couldnt get full psi out of my kit until 4th gear. Also.. TONS of heat under the hood. I ran a blanket, coated and heat wrap and still cooked all kinds of stuff under the hood. Not to mention overheating and had to run 3 fans. Now it would be fun for an all out build where you dont mind losing the a/c, modifying things and such, but I liked my car and the creature comforts. The only things I like was the "ohhh ahhh" factor and the sound. It sounded like a jet at spool.. oh, also the stealthyness of it. You could go all the way to redline and never hit spool if you didnt want to or just drive around and nobody is the wiser and it sounded just like a stock car. then you laid into it and people eyes lit up.
I like the linier power of a SC. Its always there no matter the RPM, its very predictable, and its 1/2 the parts and pipes. The ONLY thing I dont like is the belt slip problems. You can still run headers so the plugs are easy to get to, no backpressure problems, less heat and can still achieve all the power you want.
