GTK 1000 vs GT4202 R
Give me your opinion of the two turbo chargers..
Turbonetics GTK 1000 or Garrett GT4202R
gtk 1000 = 76mm comp wheel
gt4202R = 74.7mm comp wheel
both rated at 1000 horsepower
Will be used in twins, on sbc 358 cubes
drag race only.
page 17 of the garrett turbo chargers 2008 cataloge says...
"a clear demonstration of the inherent superority of the garrett ball bearing design is in the LAUNCH of a turbocharged drag race car. The TWO STEP rev limiters used to build boost on the line expose the turbo to the harshest imaginable conditions of the pressure spikes and scorching temperatures. Where lessor turbo's often fail catastrophically, garrett ball bearing turbo's regularly shrug off these brutal conditions time after time"
I could not find anywhere, turbonetics saying 2 step rev limiters would not hurt there turbo's...
BUT
Turbonetics give 12 months unlimited warrenty on there turbo's
which turbo's are better??

im personally diggin all the new borg warner stuff. same performance at a fraction of the cost! imma start carrying their line soon after i tried their S372 on my supra compared to a GT42R. bigger and makes identical spool time for 700$ less

I'm running a gt4508r ball bearing and love it....I believe you get what you pay for, so alittle more cash now and less later....good luck with your build...

the turbonetics stuff is ok ???
I had a problem with the gtk 550's , turbonetics could not do enough to help me.... they just bent over backwards to fix the problem.
Great people to deal with.
Have twin gtk 1000's on my 358 sbc..
Just checking that i bought the right ones, VS garrett GT's

the super t 76 advertise 1200 hp....
i thought the gtk 1000, ( 76mm comp wheel), with all its super surge ported comp housing would have been better??? , but it's rated at 1000 hp

there is a turbonetics video, with a supera , they pulled a gtk 76mm off, and fitted a super t 76.... went 956 rwhp @ 35 psi

i have heard of some of the Evo guys, well one, having problems with his BW turbos. blew 3 on his race car after only a few dyno pulls. he was pushing over 50lbs of boost though.
by the way these were not modded turbos but just normal BW stuff.

Those were Bullseye Borg warner turbos. 3 of them blew up back to back to back . They couldn't fix the problem so he called us.....USP is now running just fine after he told us what was happening.

We can build the Super T's as well now.....but we can do them NON-BB where you can only buy them BB direct from T-netics. That will be offered after the new year. Also their is more to a super T then just the pretty belled cover.

I have a pair of GTK-550's sitting here...
The drilled housing on that unit is purely Cosmetic. the drillings are dead ends. Still looks good though
Not sure how many actually have functional drillings.

We can build the TC's the same as the GTK's now without the pretty ported cover though....but you don't need a surge housing on a big v8, plus surge housings decrease power by a few % anyhow.
We can build the Super T's as well now.....but we can do them NON-BB where you can only buy them BB direct from T-netics. That will be offered after the new year. Also their is more to a super T then just the pretty belled cover.

If you already have the TC unit with MPS, not sure it would be worth an upgrade to the F-1 turbine wheel. Now we can build the TC's with 3" DP's and now 4" DP's as well.
As for the Super T's shoot us a PM. We can do them with BB, non BB, water cooled, , bell inlets, billet comp wheel in some apps....etc..etc. Endless amount of different configs.

Whats the main difference between the super t 76 and gtk 1000, Other than gtk front cover, and surge slot belt mouth on Super t??
do they have same comp and turbo wheels?
