Default Turbo Oil drain line size

Ive been seeing that most people are running -4 inlet and a -8 or -10 drain. Why do you need such a big drain? Could i run -4 inlet and -4 drain? Thanks

Feed= Pressure
Drain= Gravity

You want as much flow as you can get, if there is any sort of restriction then you can blow the seals on the turbo due to the pressure buildup.

no, there is a reason people run such big drain........

Having oil back up due to too small of line will in turn back up and blow the seals in the turbo and cause smoking. Your feed in fed via Oil Pressure so you can a TON of oil flying threw that -4 line, where as the drain just gravity drips so to speak, you need the bigger hose to drain all the oil. Its a necessity and a big key to your setup, i wouldnt run less than -10 an. Hope this helps!

NO, you always run a larger feed than a return with fuel because you are using a large portion of the fuel so only a small percentage will flow back through the return.

Also the oil is often frothy with air coming straight out of the turbo or oil-fed blower.

sort of, but the fuel line is pressurized on the feed line and there are no seals to blow out so it can push the fuel to the tank

when i had a 8an drain my car would smoke, also the turbo was a lower. now the turbo is a little higher and has a 10an drain and no smoke.
the bigger the better as it allows the oil to return better.
