Yes, the V-2 gearbox is the helical cut one that is called the Super Quiet or SQ. It is available in S, E and T trims, and maybe SC, but I've never heard of anyone with a V-2 SC or E. And Vortech doesn't advertise the V-2 T-trim much. You hear about it in Mustang forums but not here.
No non-quiet SQ's, but some do whine more than others. I have a V-2 T-trim and it is whiney at startup, for the first 5 or so minutes, then quiets down. After that, you mostly hear it on deccel only.

funny you ask this, i have a S-trim V1 head unit and mine is quite.. do you have the V1 hooked up to your car? i would like to hear it. my exhaust is very loud, mids, ypipe, offroad pipe, loudmouth. but don;t think that would make it sound quite.

when i looked into the casing through the oilreturn plug
i could see the that the v2 had angular gears inside, but so does my V5-g trim
so that confused me but when i looked into my V1 i saw that that one had straight gears inside
