Default Whipple kit for a vette inside

what do u guys think of that? I thought PD blowerrs needed to sit on top of the motor, where the intake would be. how do they get the air to the motor, with plumbing like a turbo or centri?

wonder if it could be fitted to a GTO

I thought people werent allowed to advertise THEIR products or services unless they were a sponsor? I am not advertising, just want to discuss this kit. How are we to discuss products made by people who arent sponsors then?

Arent there already Whipple kits like that for some trucks, with the blower above one of the valve covers ??

There is absolutely no reason why any blower cant be mounted remotely. Its just handy to mount them in the valley in most applications due to ease of fitment, pulleys, and space.

I'm leaning toward a similar setup myself on the new 434, because I already have a large FMIC and want to keep the stock (flat) hood. My only concern is that the Mondo bypass is enough to handle that much air (the Whipple 200AX can pump >1500cfm) when I close the throttle. I'm wondering if I need to plumb in a second one.

Other than that, it's just another air pump, albeit a positive displacement one as opposed to my current Vortech centri.

It's a big unit though - about 15"L x 8.25"W x 6.5"H in the standard orientation. And I'm going to have to design a really good heat shield to go between it and the header, and design new brackets, and figure out some sort of e-torque management scheme. They have the amazing problem of (potentially) too much boost right off-idle. I saw one dyno chart where a big 2.8 Kenne Bell was making like 680rwt at 1600 rpm. Got traction? Oops, got any tread left?

The bypass appears to be hidden under the fusebox - you can see the small pipe set up on the blower outlet heading back towards the inlet:

Obviously the install is not complete here.

I agree - Dragon looks expensive. I am just buying the head unit from a Whipple disti and doing my own thing.

This has been on the site before in other threads and they were locked down. Just figured this one would follow suit. Hell I want it to stay open.

If you could not change hoods, like me, then you have to get creative. Top fit blows away clearance w/any intercooling. Since I already have the FMIC in there, I think I can make it work with some plumbing changes.

the throttle body is on the intake side of the blower so no BOV needed.

looks intresting and will be nice to see some reults. maybe someone local could get them to become a sponor on here???

Chris.

I'm pretty sure the throttle is in the stock position here at the front of the manifold, right? Or is it a dual throttle setup? I see a very similar shape at the blower inlet.
