Thanks for the prop's guys-Daves & Fern are sticking in a new cam today and hopefully this one will be it. It's probably going to kill off some torque but make some more horsepower because it will rev higher. I can afford to lose to some torque as it's making 100ftlbs more than my 347 at every point with a smaller blower. With the 347 I was getting 1.47 sixty's leaving off idle-perfect for keeping the drivetrain together.
I'm going to run the car with this F1A for a while at the track to see what it will do-KP's already proven it's 8 second capable-I would be happy to join that elite club with a full street car.
Gotta give props to Dave and my friend Frank as well for burning the midnight oil and hanging out till 5 in the morning tuning the car! Not to mention Fern for pulling cams in and out more than I can remember!

If you don't mind me asking what blocks are you using for these builds?
I am trying to get my engine planned out and keep changing my mind on blocks. Which are you using for this 427 F1R setup? If it is a LS1/2/3/7 are you resleeving and using billet mains? I am looking for something to hold 1000 FWHP for street and a little strip use.
Thanks

If you can make 900 (with a locked converter I assume) you should have no problem running in the 8s. I was barely even hitting 70K impeller at 7200rpm and had 60 cubic inches less @ 33250lbs. With a 3.70 gear and 28" tires I was well out of steam at 1100' but it still ran 152mph. I can 60' 1.28 or so off the footbrake, so just as important as making the power is the torque converter if ETs are your goal. A 1.29 footbrake launch @ 1500rpm or so is as smooth as it gets and shouldnt hurt parts bad on a C5, at least for a few passes anyhow. C5s may have an IRS but they also have same damn good weight distribution, they can hook with enough tire..

The converter is locked-I'll do a unlocked pull once everything is dialed in. Are you kiding me-1.29-not a chance-I'll spill parts all over the track. That's why I'm trying to make more power for more topend. last year with a 1.8 sixty bogging I ran 9.6, so I'm hoping a hi 1.3 will do the trick-then I can buy some nice wheels and cruise around, wash and wax my car, until someone else beats me!

Rodney from RPM just came out with a new conversion which allows you to bolt up a C6Z06 rearend to the 4L65E-he said it will take ALOT of abuse!
But we'll see what happens-this new motor is making at least 100 ft/bs more torque than the 347 from 2500 rpm on.

Rodney was telling me about it, sounds like the way to go, then you won't have to be looking for all the lost parts on the track. lol Bob
