Default APS TWIN, Which Gaskets for 317 heads

Would I be better off with the 3 layer gaskets or the 5 layer gaskets?

What are the actual bore sizes of each gasket?

I will be running a completely stock bottom end with 317 heads that have been milled.

I will not be running more than 8 to 10lbs of boost at anytime, until I forge it all.

Thanks for your help guys.

I believe that GM replaced the 3-layer with the 5-layer for the 4.00+ bore gaskets.
I would be comfortable with the existing 3-layer gaskets you have.
They should be reliable at your HP level assuming a good tune.

You will now need the 6.0l headgaskets, not 5.7, if you didnt already know. Just trying to look out and save you some headaches

Is there any reason I shouldnt get the 5 layers?

Would they be weaker with boost?

Do any of you know anywhere that has a good deal on either the GM 3 Layer or the Cometic 3 Layer Gaskets?

Thanks,

Fil

I am really leaning towards the 3 layers to keep some compression, for under 3200 rpm range because that will give me a few more ponies down low, of course running the thicker 5 layer ones with a bit less compression I can just add a few degrees of timing and get the ponies back.

Honestly I was just hoping to get some feedback from ppl who have used both, and bounce ideas off you guys.

Thanks

Filbert

From what I gather the 3 layer gaskets have proved to be the best so far. The 5 layer are still somewhat new and don't have the time on them yet to make a good opinion. I'm in the same boat as you and just got a set of the 3 layer since I know they're a good gasket.
