Default Ordered S88 today!!!

Ordered me a nice little S88 from Forced Inductions today. Can't wait to finally get this project on the move. Had so much stuff come up lately I haven't been able to spend any cash on it. Said it should be here like 1-2 weeks.

That's a sweet little turbo. Why not the S91 out of curiousity?

Talked to them on the phone for alittle, and just decided to go with it I guess.

Haha I've heard that they were kinda slow... Hopefully it don't take too long. It's getting an iron block forged 408 with L92's and single plane/90 setup. Using the truck manifolds backwards and a FMIC. Going with a TH350 with a brake. Hopefully it runs decent, got a ton of money in it already. LOL. Car's pretty much a track only car with some cruise/street time. Should be fun non-the-less. Thanks for the comments.

Cancel the S88 and get the S91, lol. J/K

S88 will rock with that setup. You will have a mean running car for sure. And don't worry about the money, your gonna spend a ton more doing a turbo setup .

LOL, funny that you said that DanZ28, cause I just upgraded to the S91....haha Oh yea, I know there's still a ton of money has to be spent. So far, I've got the block, rotating assembly, heads, tranny, turbo (on way), and ordering the intercooler this week. So hopefully before it turns cold it'll make some noise. hopefully. I don't believe I've ever been this excited about ordering a part like I am about this S91....

I honestly can't see any reason not to get the S91. It's only $100 more and is the same size physically. I'll agree with turbo stuff is expensive.

I hope to be ordering my S91 this week.

Is 1-2 weeks still accurate on the leave time?

Do they spool much slower than a S88?

Good decision! I actually did the same thing as you, ordered the S88 then called and upgraded to the S91 two days later. I also started with a 408, then went to an LSX 427, so you need to follow suit haha.

Hope to see you get it all together and at the track by fall, that would be awesome to see it run...

LOL, that'd be my luck. 1200 hp, and mid 11's... If it goes single digits I'll be happy, if it goes 8's, I'll prolly shoot-off in my pants....haha We've decided to go with the k-member first so tubing can be made without worrying about the motor moving. Should start on the tubing/turbo and intercooler mounting next week! Can't wait, I'll post a ton of pics and keep it updated through the build. Gonna have tons of questions too, so.... lol.

Chris

BTW: He said spool time is like 50-100 rpm slower, so not much at all...

Correct....most of our customers are getting 1000-1100rwhp before the motors have problems holding the heads down. The guys with the new bad boy blocks are going with the larger FI-X units. Either unit will put you into a ditch before you can react...I can tell you that for sure...hehe.

hahaha, awesome!! We're going to o-ring the block in hopes that it wont lift too much. I think the L92's are kinda thin-decked, so I want to try to do all that I can. Anything else? Maybe larger diameter studs than normal?

Interesting. Keep us updated on how this is going.

The end of this year I will be going with either 402 or 408, and was thinking of a s88. But if I like how the s91 goes, I will deffinetly look in that direction.

I am shooting for low 9's...

S91 with a 360/370ci engine will run low 8's high 7's@170 in a capable car.....so I don't think low 9's is a problem. Our old S88 with a less comp wheel and cover then used now made over 1130rwhp on NastyTA's car and still had more left and that was through a powerglide. That turbo now has another owner this many years later...and still being beat on...hehe.
