Ahh ok, that's not a lot of miles though.. but yeah that's what I was told, that its all in the tune..

Off topic for a second, but is your 9" a truetrac or locker? Also, what times did you run the quarter with those numbers??

its a locker, not so nice on the street, but i dont mind much. Its not the number of miles that will kill the motor, it how hard you beat it during those miles, just driving around the motor does not even know its got a blower. Stay away from the 5th and 6th gear WOT pulls and the motor will live for a long time.
On my first night at the track with the new setup I ran 11.8, seems the more power i get the harder it is to drive out of the hole....

i never saw 5th or 6th gear while racing. I guess lt1 bottom ends just suck for 8lbs...especially at 100k and beating on it!

Just finished it up about March, winter project. I love the cam, Bob @ EPP recommended it and I would also recommend it for a similar build.

Oh alright.. hopefully you will last for a long time with that set up.. Give me some hope of running 500+ without having to shell out money for internals

And the driveability with that cam is pretty good? I know the specs on it are like a 238/242 or something like that..

Specs are 232/240 .595/.608 on a 115 Drive ability is great, im a big believer in the tune and who tunes it. I dished out the $ for a street tune and dyno tune. The street tune made the drive ability great, but the dyno tune gained me 165rwhp more. That's right 1.5hr on the dyno and another 165rwhp.

Im starting to look for a forged short block simply cause this **** is addicting and I want more.....Boost that is!

Wow awesome! Yeah I will defiinitely be doing both also..

Oh well a 232/240 isn't as aggressive as I thought.. But yeah.. eventually forged is the way to go obviously, that way you won't have to worry about it..

I have that same cam, and actually your setup is very similar to mine.
I dyno tuned today 596 / 507 @ 6500 (dynojet)
11.5 max afr (forgot to ask what the timing was) but he said there was a ton left in it.
Mike @ New Era did the tune, drivability is great, idles like a cadillac, hell i can drive @ 45mph in 5th gear w/out a problem.

Altho the tune is great and very conservative, i knew and now definitely know that my stock bottom wont last...

Set up is as follows:
2001 factory ls6 block
D1 @ 8#
EPP FMIC
EPP FI cam
lightly ported 317 6.0 heads
Patriot gold dual valvesprings
manly pushrods
double roller timing chain
Pacesetter LT's
ORY
Borla catback w/ cutout (closed during tuning)
Textralia oz700
Nasty Fuel system

We'll see how long it last's!!!!

Thanks...

Great #'s! Our set-up is close to each other! My tuner said the same thing, there is a lot more power with this cam/set-up. What fuel system are you runing, you stated a Nasty fuel system. What does there fuel system include, pump, injectors, and fuel rails?

It's all from Nate over at Nasty Performance (sponsor on here)its the Stage 2 street kit that i modified slightly, consisting of:

Racetronix 340L single intank pump
Racetronix hotwire kit for pump
-6ss feed and return lines
magnafuel fuel filter
nasty performance billet fuel rails
magnafuel AFPR w/ boost reference (we are not using the boost reference)
mototron 60# injectors

No problems with fuel at all!!!

Thanks...

I might have to give them a call. I have a Walbro 255, Hot wire kit, and 60# injectors. I was going lean at about 5200.

Thanks

I would definitely recommend the Nasty Performance stuff. Nate was very helpful.

When i have my motor forged, i will probably go with a 2nd 340 intank pump (like his stage 3 kit) on a hobbs switch.

Good luck!

Thanks...

My '02 has a bone stock motor. 8# on a D-1SC kit... when the shitty 6 rib doesn't slip, that is. 479 RWHP.

Blower kit installed around 1200 miles. Car now has 10,300 (yeah, garage queen). Very safe/conservative tune and have had no problems with the motor. About 12 passes at the track and probably ~20 street races (roll), so the car gets leaned on very infrequently when you figure it's nearly 6 years old.

I got pulled by a Speed Freaks turbo'd M3 last weekend. He claims 620 to the wheels, so I guess I shouldn't feel too bad. However, my fingers keep starting to dial EPP to order up that 8 rib conversion and larger intercoolers. I have stopped them in time before the call went through, but one of these days...

EDIT: M-Ten, it's still stock rev limiter. 6200 I believe. Stock springs and pushrods, so no plans to raise it.

Haha, yeah well 479 isn't bad at all, throw in a cam and a set of heads and you'd be well over 500 ..

Seems like it's pretty durable as long as you keep a real conservative tune..

I am only taking mine to 6500, mostly because it was already making more power than i wanted to on the stock bottom. It was still making power.

My tuner said it could probably go up to 7kish

I do have upgraded springs.

Thanks...

Yeah, I figure 6500 would be safe.. I will probably do that until I upgrade internals.. I will just get used to the #8's first, then get pistons/rods/heads/cam, and all that good stuff

Maybe even throw a fast 90/90 on if I can be patient and save the extra money for it lol
