I would call one of the other torque converter companys and have them spec out a converter for your setup. I am not sure the Vig 4000 was ment to be used ina F2 car lol.

Well, things just got a little more interesting. I went to pick it up this morning and just checking over everything before I started her up I noticed one of the plugs was touching the header. It was fried real bad and Larry said he didn't see anyway it could be firing burnt that bad. I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I don't want to be too disappointed if it's the same but it's possible the 600rwhp it made was on only 7 cylinders. I changed the plug wire and have a little more touch up to do with the tensioner pulley but after I'm finished with that they are going to throw it back on the dyno just to see if that's why it was down on power. Still can't go max effort because the 80s are maxed but at least it will show the potential it has. The converter will still need to be changed either way but it would be nice to see it making a little more power. I'll update once we get it back on the dyno.

That's some good news. I'd be careful with how hard you push that converter.

I fixed up the tensioner pulley so it can't come loose now. It should be back on the dyno Monday or Tuesday for one last pass to see if the power is there now that it's running on all 8 cylinders.

If your 80s are maxed out on 7 cylinders I don't see the purpose of going back to the dyno until you can put a larger injector in it. I'd also be very careful about ballooning that converter. It may be built with some sort of anti ballooning plate in it, but I'm sure it isn't up for the task of what you'll be putting it through. I would hate for you to run into something stupid like bearing issues because of a converter.

The purpose is just to prove what it's capable of because I'm most likely going to have to sell or part out and it's going to be real hard to sell if it doesn't make the power like it should. My tuner is very good and he isn't going max effort since we know it doesn't have the fuel but even if he can get it to make 750rwhp @ 6000rpms(which should be plenty safe for the 80s) it shows that the motor is good and it has a lot of potential. I may not be able to upgrade the fuel, heads and converter, ever. So I think one last pass just to see if the power is there is something I have to do.
The converter was made for racing, TH400 no lock-up. The guy I got it from had a 500rwhp N/A set-up that he was spraying with a 200 shot off the line. He said with the spray it was flashing to 4000rpm. So it may not be my ideal converter but it should be able to hold some power.

I do understand your concern though and trust me, with two years of time and a shitload of money, I'm scared shitless something bad might happen. I can't even get a good nights sleep but I don't really have much choice. If I planned to just park it back in my garage and sit on it till I could upgrade what needs upgrading, I wouldn't put it back on the dyno. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I'm going to try and video it so at least I have something to show for it once it's gone. So please wish me luck.

Shame to see you have to sell it off after all that work. Honestly you will be better off parting it out if you need the need to extract the most cash out of it so I dont know if I would beat it up any more.

Curious to see what you find on the dyno. Boy, if one plug wasn't firing I would think one bank would be pretty fat.

True, but who's going to want to buy an engine that made 600rwhp with 26psi lol. It is only one more pull to see if the power is where it should be, 5 pulls or 6 pulls won't make a difference unless something bad was to happen and I think if it was going to break it would have done it on the first pull. Everything held good so I'm just hoping to show the potential of the engine, the blower set-up is already proven as far as I'm concerned, 26psi is awesome and all my bracket stuff didn't budge other than the tensioner pulley loosening and now I have a bolt holding it in place like the procharger j bracket has. The th400 isn't even being tested at this level because it was built for 1200rwhp. I guess the smartest thing to do would be just dyno the engine without the blower but after all that work I'd at least like to get the satisfaction of a nice dyno pull.
