I have a big front mount intercooler setup for sale that is complete and ready to go for you. It is brand new and i was going to use it but decided i would need the money for some more parts for my engine...It uses a 31x12x3 intercooler and all mandrel one peice pipes painted black (might get them powdercoated but thats only if you want them powdercoated. ALso includes black silicones clamps and all the T-bolt clamps you will need to install it. Lemme know!!!

I have tuned cars before, when people are using smaller IC setups then their setups are requiring, or they used powdercoat or spray paint on the IC's. If you do anything to stop the cooling properties of the IC it will do what is going on with his car. I will advise the customer to come back with a better more efficient setup rather than taking a risk of melting some pistons. Or not getting what he paid for which would be a tune that is supposed to be getting safe performance out the car.

I think you are trying to say the same thing I was. That tuners can only do so much for what condition or setup the car is in when they get it. Regaurdless of the situation of "why" the IAT's are too high, there is really only so much a tuner can do given the setup. Either put race gas in, or retard the timing to achieve a "safe as possible" setup.

Obviosly it is more ideal if the IAT's are nice and cool.

So yes your AITs are way high For that level of boost. You have some other issue happening although I couldn't say what. No functional i/c system I have ever heard of would let you run that warm at 5psi. Do you know where your timing is pulling to?

Kurt Urban told me once that IAT's over 150F were problematic. I've never forgotten that, he's a very smart man.

how are you running the blowers for the dyno under your car to cool the intercooler?

Wow those are HIGH IAT's I have a 99 T/A with a front mount IC last log I did was on a 75 degree day, cruising my IAT;s were 90 to 95, but WOT was 75 to 80 degrees. My FMIC is a 3.88" core 22" long and 17" tall. Instead of getting a bigger intercooler you have other options, a Methanol injection kit, or a spray bar, with cryo kit. The cryo kit uses a spray bar for the IC, plus you can get it with multiple tear drops. The tear drops are stainless steel, they are inserted into the charge pipe in different locations, they have a stainless tube that runs thru the center of them thru each side of the charge pipe, with A/N fitting on each end so CO2 can be sprayed thru them and the spary bar, to coll the temps down. I personaly like the methanol kits, I run one on my car with 100% meth no water mix, whcih allows me to run 12 PSI thru my GT67 on a stock LS1 with 151.000 miles on it, the 100% meth gives a huge onctaine boost, plus 20 to 30 IAT drops.

Truthfully the inlet temps are not unreal.Loom at Maggie's,everyone I've tuned has had inlets near there if not past that.

I bet your intercooler is fine, the problem is no air flow going through it to cool the intake charge. Is there an air damn in place to direct the air up through the intercooler while moving?

Are we talking Magnachargers here, lol.

I would say ur temps shouldnt be much higher than ambient after a pull, maybe 40 or so higher but not much.
