Default 8/15/03 - Pics of Griffin Race intercooler out of the box

Members, I have been working with Griffin Thermal Products to come up with a big air/air intercooler for my car. Jim over there sketched one up a couple of months ago and spearheaded this project.

The intercooler is a two-row, and it's 12.85 x 30 x 4.59.

We will be installing it on Monday, and we'll have pictures of the intercooler with our suggested locations for mounting it securely to the car. The piping will be done as well.

Check out the pics!

It's supposed to support my YS Trim. My YS trim needs up to 1500 cfm.

JimmyZZ28 is the engineer who created it, he's also got a Z/28!!!!!!

They pressure tested it to 80psi before the boxed it up that's what I call service.

Hi Brady.

I just have to run a 10.29 to beat you turbo car right? Do you rebuild the engine every year or is that my imagination? Funny but no LT1 has ever run a 9 second 1/4 mile pass yet but Rob Raymer has done with two different longblocks... *dang*

The intercooler will be bolted up and piped on Monday... I'll take pics on Tuesday before we put the nose back on.

PSJ What do you mean when you say no LT1 has run a 9 second pass yet? Do you mean stock cube or something?
There are lots of guys in the 9's with LT1s...

I mean with a turbo.

350 LT1 record is like 9.9 but some 355ci's have gone faster.

sorry to burst your bubble johnny, but the motor has been rebuilt one (1) time in early 2001. The heads came off last year for freshening, but that's it. We did go a 10.20 a couple weeks ago on another half pass (optispark let go again) it went a 6.25/117 in the 1/8th coasted to a 10.20/116.. I've got no excuses, you've got enough for both of us.

edit: brand new trashed optispark

I can't believe you want to start talking about this subject mr. 11 second monster motor man.. LOL

I was going to work on a D2-R mustang intercooler project this weekend, but I think you've gave me motivation to go to the track..

You bust my ballz, I bust urz... Talk to Chris/ANines he's has his opti solution dialed in, it's only a few bux for the intake conversion.

It's all good, that keeps it exciting... I think my opti woes are cured, I spent 2 weeks trying to get the car running to find out it was a blown injector fuse.. LOL

I'm going to a 1/4 mile track Sunday, I'll report (good or bad) when I get home.. Till then --->

I still say the paint for the Griffin logo is going to cost you 1 C on your temps.

I can't wait to see the RedMonster(aka Moneypit) hit the track.

Not to hijack the subject, but what do you think is killing the opti's in that way Brady? What kind of RPM are you turning? Is it the RPM or the acceleration of the motor?

Also, does the optical part get killed by the rotor...or does it eat itself?

Cant wait to see you break that 11.0 barrier PSJ...car should be flyin this year
