Well I stumbled upon this thread a bit late. I know you're almost done but if you need an extra set of hands, let me know. I'm off the whole week. -Joe (KsE73 from GAGT)

- Mike told me about the project. Hopefully I'll be able to witness the startup. Let me know when you'll be around.

I would have had a wideband in the car, but that deal went south. Still waiting on a ls1tech member to refund me the money for the wideband. Its still pending on paypal for the refund =(.

I am going to order a wideband tonight, so it will be ready to get installed by the time i get back.

Frost,

What is the major difference to having it vent instead of it going into the downpipe?

For me, I want to get as much out of the kit as I can. I keep it around 16psi and we don't have the most optimum downpipe. I'm trying to help that out. Venting it outside will be a little loud, it'll sound like a mad air-rush when it's open.

If you had a wideband in the car I was gonna set it up SAFE but give you something to play with a bit, but sorry, no dice without a wideband to look at. It's for your own good.

It would be nice to compare what a wideband in your car reads compared to the tuning shop. I have heard of discrepencies... some that cost an engine. In a way its kinda like a cigar humidor... you have to know how far the meter is off, that way you know that 85% humidity really means 80%. Just an idea. Good luck with everything, man! Get ready to give us a video!!

Ditto the above; I'd highly recommend your first tuning session with both your installed wideband and the shop's simultaneously...

Everything is great =)

Got back from Argentina on Sunday. Had to go to a concert Sunday night (3 doors down, Staind, and Hinder).

Monday went and got the downpipe welded. Had the part that connects the wastegate cut off and closed. Bolted everything up but the steering shaft hits the V-Band clamp a bit. I need to loosen all the clamps and see if i can adjust it. I may also notch a little bit off the clamp and i should be good.

Recieved my Wideband in the mail, so i will be installing that soon.

I will try to get some new pics up. I need to go buy a new camera since i lost mine in a cab right in Argentina. lol.

Camera phone pics =/

The concert was awesome! Staind is one of my fav bands. I do like Hinder and the 3 doors down, so it was a great Bday present from my gf =).

So I just finished for the night. I am going to buy a digital camera tomorrow because i am going crazy without one.

Bolted everything up, and finally it clears the steering stem! YAY! Had my brother push it up and towards the driver side as i tightened everything down. The key is to keep everything loose, yes every single v-band clamp! Once you get it in the right spot, make sure someone is holding it and tighten it all up.

Installed the wires and coil packs on the passengerside. Installed the driverside wires.

Extended the Alternator 1 wire plug.

Tightened the downpipe down and its all bolted up.

Tomorrow I will be shortening the o2 sensor cables, as they were made longer for the longtubes. I will also be installing the new plate that will cover the hole that is in the trunk for the fuel pump.

My dad has a huge sheet of stainless steel plate, its a decent thickness. Going to use self tapping screws and silicone to seal it up.

Going to go back to Autozone and return the belt i bought. Someone said i needed a 73.5inch but the one i got is way to short????

I need to buy a puller fan that is thin. I do not want to just have 2 pushers, i want 2 pushers and a puller =). Also need to buy a 2.5 to 3.0 90 to go from the turbo outlet to the intercooler.

Thats all i can think of right now, but will post again if i remember more =).

you're running smokinhawks bracket right?? it should be 73.5

did you remove the idler pulley that was down by the alternator?? if you didnt and still have the belt going around it then that is why it is to short..

You have too keep that pulley on. If you dont it will hit the turbo piping. I confirmed it today and also Frost confirmed it.

Here are a few pics from today.

Sealed up the fuel pump hole.

All the piping is mounted and bolted tight.

Wastegate is all bolted up. Had to take it apart and turn the inner base because the vacuum port was hitting the turbo blanket.

o2s have been installed.

Well i have everything done except the piping from the turbo to the intercooler. Its sunday so no one is open! =(.

What do you think i should do? I was thinking either a 2.5inch to 3inch 90, or a 2.5inch 90 to a 2.5inch to 3inch coupler.

I also got the wideband hooked up. That plug is huge at the end, but luckily i found my old nitrous hole that i made in the firewall. So i got lucky =).

Put the carpeting back on in the trunk, and you cant even notice the panel under the carpet. You cant even feel the screws that are holding the plate on.

Also i am using a 79.5inch belt. It is a little close to the termostat housing, so i am going to see if it rubs after the car has been started. This belt was such a PAIN. Ended up having the belt all routed, then sliding it under the oil pump pulley.
