Default Normal Temps for ATI kit??? HELP

Fired up the car last night for the first time with my new kit. Its the ATI D1-SC w/42# injecters and walbro 340 intank. Drove it for the first time today and she started to get hot quick. I know that small fan that came with the kit has to do better then that. I still have the stock thermostat and i plan on buying a 160 or 180 on tuesday when im at MTI for my wideband tuning. The car sits at about 235 in normal city traffic doing about 30mph and on the freeway it drops to about a little over 210 but then jumps right back up after slowing down. I havent driven the car any further then 10 miles one way on the freeway and then right back home. It should make the 220 mile treck to Houston. Since my A/C compressor went out we removed the condenser in front of the radiator and it runs a little cooler, but i still drive around with the heater on to keep the temps down. It was 92 degrees out today but with the humidity it was about 100. The plastic shroud is still around the radiator and i plan to take it completly off here in about a half hour when the car is cooled down. I also have another slim line 16 binch fan that flows 1600cfm to mout pushing air into the ratiator but i thought i would see what you guys thing before i do that. Sorry for such a long post i was just trying to give you guys as much info as possible. TIA

Nasty, I just put my D1SC on also and I run right around 210 or so. My tuner said it was running pretty hot but he told me to cut the protective plastic shroud that you have to remove to install the kit and trim it up to help it out a little. Hope this helps. I also had a problem with overheating because the fan wiring was wired backwards causing the fan to blow hot air into the radiator instead of into the engine.

Andy u were right. I was going to cut some more on the shroud, but i just took the whole thing out. The fan was wired backwards. It was blowing the hot air into the radiator. Changed the wiring and now temps are at a little over 185. It was in the evening so ill be checking them in the middle of the heat of the day tomarrow. Thanks for your input man.

Check the wiring on the fan. I made the mistake of installing it and hooking the wires up as it was received. Was running around 240 degrees. After checking it I found that the wires were reversed on the fan(pos wire was attached to the negative terminal). As a result the fan was reversed causing it to push through the rad.

After switching the wires, making it pull through, my temps dropped to right around 182-185.

Note: 160 thermo and fan settings had been adjusted with LS1edit for both readings.

Yep thats what i did. It runs about 185 on the freeway and heats up a little to about 200 id say around town during the heat of the day. Much better. Im not even sure if i should go with a 160 stat now. Any opinions??

Get the Tstat. Keeping it in/under 180's goes a long way to helping prevent knock.

And do you have any pics online of your car? I really like the idea of going green.
