LGM motorsports turbo hotside enquiry
#62
I will ask this with this logic....I had a set of 275/30/24 tires on a lowered 1500. I got those tires when they first came out and they were over 600 apiece. The tires on my truck now are 285/75/16s. They are both Toyo brand tires, but why did the tire with SO much less rubber cost SO much more? At the time there were so few of those that they cost more to produce. Like was said above, if everyone was doing it the price would be alot less. I am sorry but turbo hot parts are not glorified headers, alot more goes into them than that.

The "mass" in mass production of headers versus turbo hot parts is going to be way different. As he said in the first post, he's sold thousands of headers. The R&D cost is soaked up little by little over all those sets. I would imagine that only about a hundred sets of hot parts will be sold due to the limited demand. That R&D has to be soaked up over a much smaller quantity. It's simple economics.
Yep Yep.....I agree with the front....
Try some of the other Sponsor's and see how much a CUSTOM one off setup is...... Like mine..... Can You say $10K
Some of these mass produced sites even need a little modding to fit sometimes...... every car is not the exact same thing....
Where ya at with the progress so far Louis???

Don't know if it's very practical, but is it maybe possible to build two different sets of headers, one to please the folks that need to have AC and ABS, and another for those of us who don't care about AC and ABS? Basically a street version and a race version? Race version to support at least a 98mm turbo and a 5" DP ? Figure it couldn't hurt to ask..

We are definately entertaining both ideas, everything is mocked up and ready to be test fitted to a car. I am awaiting a bare S91 from Jose for mock up and Im not pushing him at this point because right now we are preparing for the texas mile. When I return on monday, I should be able to tear the car apart and see where we stand.
As for price, 2500 is expensive. If I could mass produce a hotside in the quantity of 300-500, price would indeed be about a set of OUR headers ( ~ 1400-1800).
Right now, there are not many that will deliver turbo parts for that kind of price.
Like I originally stated- Ive been here since day one, and I have seen the turbo companies come and go like the wind. Hi Flo? PTK? soon to be OFI?
We are bringing a quality product that can be DELIVERED and shipped quickly.
So there you have it. Ill keep everyone updated on the progress. These things take time, but with that comes peace of mind that its done right. The setup will be fully tested before the first setup is even sold, and before that, there will be a few setups on the shelf

As long as you can produce a kit that can handle a lot of heat cycles you'll have a hit on your hands! Bob

If you can build a hotside for an fbody that will fit a 91 to 94 mm T6 flange, and run at least a 4 inch downpipe, preferrably a 5 inch (bmr turbo k member, or burkhart required is fine) I'd buy one, and get my locak guy to take care of the cold side.
Have the downpipe run out the passenger's side to about where a header ends and end it there, customer to finish would be perfect.
Even it a smaller custom radiator that sits over to the drivers side some so the turbo will fit (preferrably with the inlet facing foreward) would be killer, for a setup like this no a/c, race water pump too so there's none if that stuff in the way.
I'm very intrested in what you can come up with.

What someone needs to do is a factory manifold kit which ever ones, that keeps the a/c and does not require you to move the radiator/condensor forward. I know thats alot to ask for but thats the only hot side that is not out yet and i know so many people that would buy that right away. Including my self.
