Default boost problems

Well, I put the my car on the dyno and I have an STS kit with a front mount. The wastegate has the 5 lb spring in it. just running off the wastegate the car made 4lbs. When I ran it through the STS boost controller ( which I have determined is a piece of crap) the car made 7 lbs, then on the next run it made 6 lbs and then went back to 4lbs. I wanted to put it up to 9 lbs but could not get a reliable boost setting. I was wanting to know if anyone has had this problem and if I get a 10lb spring and a boost controller that works if this will hopefully fix my problem. Also was wanted to know if anyone had a good diagram on how to route the boost controller on the STS kit just make sure I had it routed right. Thanks for the help.

watch what u wish for...10lbs on a stocker could get ugly. did u atleast upgrade your valve springs? turbo boost should be good for 20-25 hp per psi...200-250 extra rwhp
and kaboom! (in due time) on a stock bottom end. i'm not saying not to do it, just
be sure your bank account is up to the task.

Well I want to go to 9lbs but I loose a pound through the intercooler. so that why I want a 10lb spring and a boost controller to adjust it to 9lbs.

I have been running 10psi on stock 112k for a while now on the street and dog the hell out of it. Just get a good tune and you will be amazed. I just wish I had a trans that could hold it.

Do you loose boost on the street? Could be a load issue.

I have seen STS kits make almost no boost on a dyno jet because of the no load issue. If it doesnt have this problem on the street that is most likely your problem.

nothing like a mustang dyno with eddy current softwear.
the load simulation is as good as it gets.

It is an eddy current dyno. The boost was just up and down because if you even bumped the boost controller it woul change the boost. But I ordered a light blue 8.7 lb spring and a good boost controller tonight. The guy I have tuning it is very good with HP tuners so the tune is the least of my worries its the 95K miles on the car that I am. But like silver said its all about a good tune.

You should try to pull off the boost controller all together. If the car ends up boosting what ever the W.G. spring is set at then you can eliminate your boost controller.

It could be the WG spring. I had my kit for about a year before the spring must have taken a permanent set and would only make 5.5 instead of 6.5psi. I thought it was because i had dented the crap out of the front pipe (STS does not like eibach pro-kits!) I bought a cheapo ebay manual boost controller and used it to adjust to 6.5 psi again. It worked. Still need to buy a new spring though. Like CanII said, remove the BC and just run straight spring. According to STS you should lose about .75psi through the piping alone plus what you lose through your intercooler.
