Default Benefit of using Roots VS centifugal?

I have been tossing around the idea of a new motor in the future here for my SS: 402 LS2 with FI. Now what do you all think Procharger/ Magnusson/ or Turbo? I mainly drive on the street with occasional track usage. I was thiking about an ATI Procharger F1 but all these Magnusson set-ups have me 2nd guessing and then there are the turbos too. I already have a 12 bolt but I will probably have to change my clutch out.

Turbo+ 402= power. ATI+402=power. roots blower+402= instant TQ and power. I havent seen a roots style on a built 402 in a f body. I think a KB wont fit or you need to do some serious hacking. As far as turbo APS will be serious on that 402 by far the best kit IMHO. Procharger Is the **** also as long as you go with a D1 or F1 unit easy 700+ depending on your power goals.

The APS kit on a 402 is allmost un-beatable. As well as a big single turbo.

As for the best bang for the buck, the APS setup is the nicest FI kit i have seen to date. Proper hardware in all the right places, cast manifolds and water cooled turbos. A proper intercooler designed for what the kit is capable of making.

A nice 402ci motor along with a baby cam, can we say sleeper?

My car isn't required to pass any emissions testing and evryone in my area knows "the black SS with the silver stripe"; therefore, being a sleeper is not required either. I am looking for power and relability. If I feel like going on a road trip I want to be able to do so. Jake...what type of set-up could your shop do?

Biggest question is how fast do you want to spend?

We can do any poweradder at just about any level, it all comes down the dollar signs.

A car that can take a road trip and have power on demand with good street manners, would be something along the lines of a twin turbo with a medium to moderate cube motor, smaller cam but better street manners. There is a reason LPE uses TT for there vettes

A top mount huffer (blower), would max out soon with what can fit on a fbody. If this was a vette, i would do a KB hands down first option.

There is also a ATI unit, im not a fan of the larger blower due to the belt slip you allways have to combat, and also the noise. Its great on a race car, but you would not catch me having one on my personal car.

How much power are you looking for? Just a fun weekend car? Any racing?

I would like 600-700rwhp and 700rwtq. Mostly would be a weekend car with occasional drag strip trips. I would like to see high 10s @130ish.

Procharger! Alot of people talk about the instant torque you get from a roots stlye. But i tell you what ,i have a stock internal ls1 (custom cam only) and my dyno graph shows 420 ft lbs of torque at only 3200 rpm and then peaks at 475. Peak horsepower 504 HP. I am happy with it .PS this was with only 6 lbs of boost

Check out this dyno graph of an LS2 402 that we built, then we installed an ATI ProCharger F-1A. Here is a link to this car. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=29

KP has a Trans-Am with an F-1A that has repeatedly proven itself.

I think you would really like our new 122 version of the Magnacharger kit. On a 402 LS2 engine, it will easily meet your goals. As has been said, depending on how much time your car spends at lower RPM vs. 5000-up, the instant torque may be a bigger factor for you.

Let me know if I can answer any questions,
Ed

If thats the case ATI! big time. I have a rearmount and hate it but I got it to work number in the sig. BUUUUT If I will ever do it again it will be a monsterous procharger I mean the biggest fugga I can fit. Im not downing the APS or a custom turbo set up but by far procharger seems to be the way to go.

I keep seeing posts about the Prochargers having issues keeping the belts on though.

I ditched my Magnuson and block for a larger block and a blower that wouldn't lose steam up top. See sig and video. The nice thing about centri's is they build power as you build momentum, so maintaining traction with this much power is more manageable. I don't need 700ftlb torque at 2500. The car wouldn't hook it and once I'm up to 6500, I won't be back down to 2500 until the race is over.

It's not normally a problem, many of these cars run a year or more on a blower belt. Bob
