Default Supercharger set up... what does it consist of?

I was looking over the Turbocharger set up sticky and was wondering if someone could break down without the descriptions of what I would need for a reliable S/C set up in an LS1 GTO or Fbody as well as costs of each and what the end result should yield as far as HP/TQ #'s and potential track times. Thanks

Depends on your goals. A stock bottom end ls1 with bolt ons (headers, catback, CAI) and a D1SC procharger set at 7-8 psi will net you close to 500 rwhp. If you look at the kit from EPP they have a pretty complete setup which includes fueling. This will be fairly reliable if you have a real good tune. In addition you should be looking into a built tranny/good clutch and rear as those wont last long at 500 rwhp. If your looking for more power then you would need to look into a forged shortblock (346, 364, 370, 383, 402, 408, 427, etc) with the CI depending on what your goals are. FI isnt cheap so expect to lay out some coin for a reliable setup.

Would it be a bad idea to buy a well done car already built? I could always of course add my own little touches and change things as well. I think it's one hell of a bargain considering what these cars sell for modded.

If the car has what you are looking for, then I see no problem with that. My buddy just picked up a 98 Formula with a 427 and he's very happy. If he would have done the work himself it would have been $$$.

I hate to steal someone elses project but to be frank I'd rather steal it than not have it at all because doing all the work from scratch would cost way too much for my budget.

Check out what comes with our complete F body ProCharger D-1SC kit.

2004 GTO

http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com....html?item=837 2005/2006 GTO

Here is a link to a list of items I recommend for the F body.

The F Body is lighter in weight, and the GTO has an IRS rear that is more expensive to replace than the rear in the F Body. This makes the F body more affordable to build into a drag car. For overall street driving you can't beat how solid the GTO feels and is. Bob

Isn't that exactly what I said?

So is the kit for the GTO an install and go? Or are there other components that need to be upgraded? What would I put down for RWHP with a stock GTO + this kit? I am assuming I will need an upgraded clutch at least, and I would assume this thing would be a tire shredder unless I did something to the suspension, or new wheels with different rubber etc...

I would use long tube headers and a good exhaust system. On an LS2 (05-06) GTO with 8 psi you would see about 530 rwhp on our Mustang Chassis Dyno. This is 100 more rwhp than a stock LS7 427 Z06 sees on our dyno!

A Spec Stage 3+ clutch has proven itself with us, and yes, you would need a better clutch than the factory one.

A rear end gear change would also be needed to make the car a good 1/4 mile runner. I would also add in all the rear suspension parts that we carry from the BMR catalog. A good set of M/T Drag Radials would also be needed.

Check out this '05 GTO.
