Default In Tank Regultor

I have a question about 99 and up F Body fuel systems. Where is the fuel psi regulator located? Is it located at the top of the fuel bucket? The canister that the small 1/8" nylon tube goes too? How does it work opens and closes allowing fuel back to the tank? Controlling psi that way? Thanks guys

Yes, it's the small metal canister. It has a rubber diaphram in it IIRC & restricts fuel flow.

OK so then when doing a twin in tank setup one of the pumps must be connected to the reg. or all the fuel will return to the tank resulting in little or no fuel psi. Correct? right now neither pump is connected to the regulator. So i think that is my problem. Any ideas?

the regulator is at the top of the fuel sending unit, but there are no tubes going to it. it is actuated by the sensor directly on top of it which adjusts based on rpm and load. i believe that it adjusts how much fuel is let back into the sender from the return line.

this is from alldata:

"The fuel pressure regulator attaches to the fuel return pipe on the fuel sender assembly. The fuel pressure regulator is a diaphragm operated relief valve. A software bias compensates the injector on-time because the fuel pressure regulator is not referenced to manifold vacuum. The injector pulse width varies with the signal from the MAP sensor."

yeah i just read that the 1/8" tubing is just for a venturi system to help keep the bucket full when the tank is low. Ok back to the drawing board. The problem I'm having is that the pumps come on but i have no psi at the rail.the fuel system is stock except for the twin pumps. Both pumps run at the same time.Can this be making so much psi that the regulator is forced open and the fuel is returning back to tank? or do i need a check valve somewhere?Any ideas?

can you list the components of your fuel system from the pumps to the reails and back to the tank? which parts are stock and which parts arent? has the sender been modified (i assume yes)?

Both pumps tee together. The venturi setup on the bottom of the bucket was cutout to fit the two pumps. Also the very bottom of the bucket was cut out.The wires were spliced together. I have verified that the pumps are wired right. I ran the pumps in a bucket of clean fuel and what is happening is the fuel is dumping out of the Regulator. with the fuel free flowing the reg should not be open correct? A stock pump and bucket works and does not come out the regulator but out of the psi port at the top.

maybe one of your pumps isn't running. so it's just pushing back on the opposite one and bleeding out if that's even possible, not sure.
