How do you go about cutting that with out damaging the tank, or the lines?
A cut-off wheel?

Plasma cutter works quick.

haha, yeah cutoff wheel. But be careful, the main plastic feedline from the tank to the filter is $55 from GM. I bent the one on my car really bad removing the tank..

Yes, Nics example is the same as a 99. 98 is the cut off year and should be the same as the LT cars. There is an example on youtube that you can look up. Cutoff wheel, gloves and safety glasses. Piece of cake. Just did one on Saturday.

same body but different tanks. 99-02 would be cut the same location to answer your ques. just be careful when cutting to not cut to deep to avoid cutting a line

Yeah, that's what I would NOT do! Let's use a cutting tool that throws sparks on top of your gas tank! What if you have a leak from a vent tube? KAAA-BOOM!
Just because others have done this doens't mean you will be as lucky. Use your head and take the tank out of the equasion.
I can't believe people even think about using a cutting tool on top of thier gas tanks. That to me is a suiside mission.

Where do you live? Because I'll watch the obituaries for your name.

This hits home for me since I'm a burn patient. Was burned in a motorcycle crash. I seen all kinds of stupid people in the burn unit. Oh, I was priming the carb and it backfired on me. DUH!!! Oh I started a fire with gasoline, double DUH! I just hate to see anyone of you guys get burned. Becasue it hurts so bad you can't even describe the pain.
So please, think ahead and use your head. Because it only takes one spark to blow you up along with your house or even your buddy helping you.
