Default How Do You Know If A Car Need Bigger Injectors?

A little help please.

I got a new car a few weeks ago and decided to take it to the track last night to see what it would do,

Here are the specs:

2000 SS W/30,000 (A4)

Lingenfelter Short Block (standard bore, forged pistons at stock CR)
LS6 Intake and Ported TB
Stock Injectors
Racetronix Fuel Pump
Crane Cam 228/228 576/563 on a 114
Stage 2.5 heads from Texas Speed
Stock 10 bolt with 3:73 Motive Gears
Upgraded Trans.
3400 Stall
BMR Suspension
Weld In Sub Frame Connectors

So, I go to the track and ended up running a best of 12.55 @ 110mph:

60ft = 1.8
330 = 5.24
1/8 et = 8.06
1/8 mph =86.56
1000 et =10.52
1000 mph = 99.72
1/4 et = 12.57
1/4 mph= 110.22

A couple things that I know need to be done. The gears and ported throttle body were done after the original tune. So, the tune was done for 3:23 gears not 3:73, not sure that will make that much of a difference.

How can I tell if the car is needing bigger injectors or more air?

Thanks for any input.

Bill

easiest way to tell is to hook up some scanning software and look at injector duty cycle. If it's over 80%, you need to up the size.

There are plenty of guys running that setup or similar on a stock fuel system and trapping like they should be, so I wonder if something else isn't up with your car. Unless just swapping the fuel pump but not the injectors could cause that kind of an issue, but that doesn't make too much sense.

What did it put down on the dyno, what type of dyno, and what correction factor?

Currently, I have the stock injectors.......26.4lb for 2000

I am also adding a Fast 92mm Intake and a 92mm throttle body in a couple weeks.

I agree with what you said. The car has not been on the dyno. I just bought the car about 3 weeks ago. I was told the tuner had indicated that the injectors were over maxed out.

I know the trans is causing a bit of the time issue. It is a long drawn out shift from 2-3. So, that may be causing a .2-.3 slower time.

I am going to try to find a local dyno to see what the car does before I add some new parts.

I would think the car as it sits SHOULD put down 380-400RWHP. I am using my last car (in sig) as a gauge.

Thanks,

Bill

if you put 3.73 gears and not tune for it the speedo will not read correct and in an auto wouldn`t it cause the trans to shift at a different rpm and not shift properly?

just a thought as my car that swaped 3.42 inplace of 2.73 was a headache before it was tuned and didn`t shift right always hit the rev limiter for a long time befor shifting until tuned .... tuned for the bolt-ons and 224 cam and 3.42 gears

just a thought
