Dead Fuel Pump

Dead Fuel Pump
OKay, so my car died (02 V6 Camaro) wouldn't turn over so I pushed it to the Car-X a block away and they quoted me 1400.00 to replace the fuel pump assembly. Is this as major of a rape job as I suspect, and if it is, what price should i expect to run to get the problem fixed?

So looking around I have found the OEM replacements to be more expensive than performance alternatives. So am I wondering if I should just go with an aftermarket fuel pump or with an OEM being only a 6 cylinder.

$1400 is a rip off, i work at a gm dealership and it doesn't cost that much. maybe they included some service work in the est. i would go with a gm pump and i would also replace the fuel filter.

I offer a performance replacement for much less than that. Just remember the v6 sender is different than the V8 one.
If you wish to have a shop fix it, have them give me a call. I can provide a Racetronix kit for much less money than either GM or the local parts store can.

You can do it yourself. I got a walbro off of ebay for under $100 and did it myself in my driveway. It'll take you all day, just find someone in your area that's done it before and have them help you.

Heres a writeup I did a while back when I was swapping my fuel pump. I dont know if there are any significant differences for a 6cyl, but its got all the major points. Just make sure to give yourself a day or two to do it if youve never done it before.
