Default 2002 Intank fuel pump recomendations

Best plug and play in tank fuel pump setup for a 2002 ws6 . Needs to support 550 - 600 rwhp ?? I like the sound of the racetronix setup but its only for the 98 cars . Why the hell would they do that

Thanks

Because the 98's had steel gas tanks, and all other years have plastic ones (or did i switch that around?)

Most people opt for the Walbro or Holley 255's

the search button is your friend

I chose the Holley, I think they are pretty much the same in terms of performance.

Holley uses a Walbro pump. I keep them instock for $120.00 w/ install kit. 02 is a little more involved than that and should be done by a shop.

Because it requires a special type of pump that will work in combination with the fuel module's venturi system which keeps the pump immersed in fuel regardless of the level of fuel in the tank.

Everyone that is installing a standard Walbro pump is doing away with this function by punching a hole in the bottom of their fuel module so that the pump has a supply of fuel.

It is a compromise but sometimes you can not have your cake and eat it to.

But then again a chef might have a cake in the oven...

why have i never heard this before? i've never heard any mention of an 02 pump being different? When i bought my Fuel Pump no one ever asked if it was an 02 or not....

I'm not saying i don't believe you, because you are obviously versed in the matter...but this is the first time i'm hearing about this. What is this fuel module that you speak of?
Thanks,
Mike

I'd like to hear some more info on this too. I just bought a Walbro 340 for my 02 Z28 and this is all news to me.

Thanks!

I will try and find a previous thread detailing this information.
If I can not find it I will put something together again shortly when I have some spare time. It has been unusually busy here since the new year.

Walbro pump in my 02 with no problems here. I might go with a double pump when the turbo kit is installed. I'll do it myself instead of buying a kit. The other option is a boost a pump.
