i understand base is 58 on a stock setup. im talking more of a custom build. with injectors rated at 80lb at 43.5, using a 411 ECM with HP tuners. ramping the pressure up with the boost re: regulator. this would be for a 1000+ rwhp set up.

Typically you can boost reference at any pressure.
The thing to keep in mind is that you should not attempt to boost reference to unachievable pressures.... such as 22# boost on top of 58psi base. Most pumps do not flow well at these (80#) pressures.
I typically try to size injectors for 43.5psi according to the power level & then boost reference. The only time I do not do this is in applications that need 58psi minimum pressure (transfer tank situations) or for really high boost applications. For high boost, I will get larger injectors & program accordingly with a lower base pressure. Personally I try to keep max fuel pressure under 65 for the best pump performance.
