Default Race gas or octane boost?

Any benefits from one to another? I need to raise octane(11:3:1 comp) but don't know which way would be best? I was thinking use 94, and splash a gallon or two of race gas unleaded 100 or so. My other option would be use a quart of additive to raise octane. Any insight??

Use the race gas, the additive doesn't compare to the actual fuel.........

race gas......

octane boost is a BIG waste. When it says 5 "points", it does not mean it will take your fuel's octane from 91 to 96. It only takes it from 91 to 91.5.

I run 11.4 on pump gas...93 with no KR.....why do you think you need higher octane?

I run 11.1:1 on 91 in AZ so........it can be done. 13:1 though is way up there (12:1 would be too high for me)

i'm running 11.3:1 right now... 93 octane and not getting any KR (though my car's got some other *stuff* done to it so my timing is only 25*)

But as mentioned... if it's a choice between one or the other... use race gas... octane booster is the biggest scam in recent automotive history! (as mentioned... a point is a 10th of an octane ... also it'll leave a red tinge on your spark plugs after many uses... and i've heard it can be bad for the O2s)

I could run on straight 94 and be ok, but I want to take the tuning to the max.

It doesn't make the engine run hotter. In fact it's just the opposite. You will run cooler because the nitro cools the charge . So basically you have supercharging going on. You could actually run the engine hotter and pick up some efficiency using this stuff, and get away with it, because of the cooling effect going on inside the combustion chamber, and not worry about detonation even being a reality.

Yes, I agree that most store-bought Octane boosters are a scam. I used Torco Mach Accelerant 104 in my Omni. Nothing else I ever tried worked and the car actually ran better with the addative mixed with 93 than it did with pump 104 no-lead.

I had no detonation at all with 22 psi boost when using Torco 104 where I could only run 18 psi with 93 or 93 mixed with store bought fuel addatives.
