Default Help with fuel pressure 1998 camaro

I have a problem with the fuel pressure in my 98 Camaro SS. Here is how it started:

The car was running pretty rough so I checked the fuel pressure- with the key on it read 0psi on the gauge, with the car running it read 26psi.

After seeing the low reading's I assumed it to be a weak fuel pump. So I bought a racetronix 255 from the ws6 store. It is now installed in the car.

With the new racetronix pump installed it still show's 0psi with the key on, once the car is running (rough start) it show's 41-46psi (rapidly) it does not rest at any number between 41-46psi while idleing.

I changed the in tank pressure regulator out for a new one from autozone (Part Number: 800-329) and then the car would not start at all. I pulled the autozone reg back off and replaced it with the old. It's back to low pressure but running...

Has anyone had this issue? Does this sound like a regulator issue?

Not sure what would cause the pump not to prime, can you have somebody put their head back there when you turn the key? Maybe there is a relay/voltage problem.

Also, on a side note (sorry to hijack) can you see the where this evap piece is mounted on your car?

The pump is working correctly.

After talking to a couple other people I'm going to go with, it must be leaking pressure somewhere inside the tank.

I'm thinking its the black plastic regulator housing, I don't think it's connecting with enough force to the hard line.

Has anyone had problems with the regulator housing leaking?

I'm not sure on that evap piece, I went in from the top on my Camaro for the pump. I also have a 98 TA but the evap box is just zip tied to the side.

Sorry

No problem. You want the stock regulator parts? I have everything from my bucket (98).

Do you happen to still have the small plastic piece that goes in the end before the blue connector?

I'm sure I do, but not sure what that is. Where is the blue connector?

I'm not sure what its called but it would be the connector clip that holds the reg housing onto the hard line. The one you would pinch to release it.

I know the regulator itself is like 50 bucks but honestly I'm glad to help another ls1tech member out if you need it, PM me your address and I will throw it in the mail tomorrow.
