Default Hotwire kit burning up sending unit in tank?

Went to start my car today and nothing. Has a walbro 450 fuel pump, with a racetronix hot wire kit. 98 ls1 turbo trans am with stock metal tank. Pulled pump out and the wiring inside the tank on the sending unit is all burnt up like it's been pulling too much amperage through wires. Has anyone else had this issue? Trying to consider my options, whether to buy a new sending unit or run a complete different set up. From what I gathered 98 was the only year that ran a metal tank

You have to upgrade the bulkhead and in-tank wiring. Simply adding a hotwire kit is not enough.

ITWH-023 is the part number I found. Hard to tell in the pics if it's heavier gauge wire or if it's the stock wire

We do not offer a bulkhead upgrade specific to the 1998 f-body cars.
You can use this for a DIY upgrade:

http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.a...WS-001&eq=&Tp=

http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.asp?ic=RCS-057&Tp=

ITWH-023 is for 1999-2002 f-body cars. It will not work for 1998 PERIOD!

The 99-02 fuel pump module requires a totally different pump assembly and wiring system. http://www.racetronix.biz/customkiti...c=RFPK-001&eq=

I already have a walbro 450 pump I'm taking out of my old tank set up and putting in this one. Just wanted to upgrade the in tank harness so I wouldn't have this issue again

Then you will require these wiring items for the 99-02 Camaro / module / tank / factory harness:

http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.a...WH-017&eq=&Tp=

http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.asp?ic=RCS-028&Tp=

Please understand that ALL the components above are required to plug into each other and to be able to supply the power demands of the W450 pumps. Parts CAN NOT be mixed and matched since they do DO NOT plug into each other. It is an ALL or NOTHING solution PERIOD!

1998 f-body wiring components we manufacture for the metal hangers are NOT compatible with the 1999-2002 modules. Two different animals / two different solutions!

Do you all not have a phone number to cancel an order that I've placed through your website? Had someone emailing me but they stopped. There is no contact number on your website and I can't send you a pm on here

Do you know part#'s for 2003 silverado bucket? I am installing a 450 and already have your fuel pump wire harness . my stock bucket already comes with the delphi 280 bulkhead and uses delphi 280 terminals/connectors. is this the same as your kit? the only difference is that you use larger gauge wire? without cutting my wires, the OD of the wire (wire and insulation coming from bulkhead and going to full pump) is the slighty larger than the wire coming out of the fuel pump itself. I understand that the insulation can be variable sizes but I would think it would be close since its larger too

thanks

thanks for the link.

Ok so the description for the bulkhead (RCS-028) says it is the same that comes in late model GM so i think this is what i have already.

Since I have this bulkhead i must already have the matching bulkhead connection that is mentioned in the description for the intank harness (ITWH-029).

My other question was concerning the gauge of wire on your harness. what gauge is the wire on the in tank harness? ITWH-029. unfortunately the decriptino on the website does not mention the actual size

The module MUST have the RCS-028.
Our ITWH-029 is designed to handle power requirements of the W450 pump.
