AN Bulkheads on OEM Fuel pump hat
I'm starting the wiring on my fuel system and came to a point of actually realizing that the mustang has a Fuel Pump Control Module that actually regulates the voltage to the pump to regulate fuel pressure at the rails. (Very high level description)
I'm going to be bypassing this system as I've seen examples of it burning out other aftermarket in-tank pumps that are not meant to have varying voltage that an OEM pump would likely see.
There are tons of aftermarket fuel hats for the mustangs, however the prices are fairly larger than I'd like to spend. $750- $2500. I've see Granatelli created a pickup tube for the Foxbody tanks that would work with AN fittings directly, and use an inline pump. I like this idea, and I'd only be into it for $100-$200 depending on how inexpensively I could get a fox tank.
I was wondering if anyone has used an AN bulkhead connector in the fuel hat in place of the hardlines from the OEM hat, and then ran the braided hose to the fuel rail. Run standard EFI rated rubber hose in the tank and a secondary bulkhead for the return line.
Any downfalls with the initial idea? so Stealth 340 in tank pump, through rubber hose, into the -10 or -8 Bulkhead connector, 90* fitting, then braided PTFE hose to the Regulator. On the way back, -6 hose, to a 90* at the hat, through the 2nd bulkhead and drains onto the assembly from there.

Here is a link to what I was able to find on an S197 forum, just by pure luck it was a mustang.

Yeah I know which hoses to use for it and I plan on mounting the pump at the OEM height within the assembly, I just didn't know if anyone had ever done this and has issues or had issues with bulkheads on the Fuel pump hat.
I feel as if this isn't a bad idea, I just want to hear possible drawbacks to the bulkheads if there are any.
