Anyone running one on a LS? I'm working out my fuel system on my S475 BW, 5.3 and run across some people that are running belt driven pumps on a street and strip car with no problems. I have a Hell Cat mounted down in the fuel cell and people think I'm crazy but I don't want to rely on just that, I'd like to see 1000 HP down the rd and I'd like to have a fuel system to support that. I'll be running blow thru starting out and I don't want to be returning a ton on of fuel and with a belt driven pump I'd have the perfect set up I'd think. If I'd go that route, I'd just Y the HC pump in with a 1 way valve and have it on a toggle switch in case I'd have a belt or pump problem, I'd think a 125 GPH pump would handle my needs. I ran them on the race car with mech injection and once with 2 750 DP on gas and never had a problem. Can you get mandrels for the LS?
They also have the brackets for cable driven pumps, if you want to mount the pump in the rear. My fuel cell is in the front, so I mounted the pump in the front.
There's also a link to the ATI hubs for the crank pulley.
I should note that I only used their pulley, I had to use a custom mount for my pump. This is an LS engine using a mechanical fuel pump. If you use the correct regulator, it's the same for EFI.
I actually haven't run it at the track yet. I haven't done mechanical fuel injection before, so it has been an experience getting it to run correctly. Alkydigger has been a great help, but I'm still working out some issues. I also have 2 more projects I'm working on at the same time, so I've been bouncing between all 3 of them to make sure I don't get any of them done ...
But, the car is about 2000lbs, 2 speed powerglide, and should be about 1000hp at the flywheel. Should be fun.
Go to the nearest dirt track on sprint car night,, more guys with Mechanical + Methanol than anywhere else..
Its not that hard you just have to kinda forget carburation,, A dial a jet can help a lot while tuning..
HIGHLY recommend a engine/oil tank heater.. Those motors go stone cold at idle. Sprints take 15 minutes of their 20 min session just to warm up.. LOL
On gasoline they are less finicky.
