Default Speed inc. fuel rail fittings

I know the size is 3/8 npt, but does anyone make a NPT fitting that dosen't flare? The fittings I have come across have a .020" rise in them, which dosent allow them to screw in but half way. I'd rather my adapters screw in all the way for a nice clean finish. Does anyone know of a straight 3/8 npt to -8an male/male adapter that dosen't flare?

Its a pipe thread, its tapered on the fuel rail side too.
if it was a straight thread it would need an O ring to seal it.

I don't think the fuel rails are tapered. That's the problem. The starting thread is perfect, but a little way in, the fitting just stops because it gets to big.

Thats what makes it seal. That and some teflon tape or liquid teflon sealant.
They are not designed to thread All The Way in.

Hmmm. Well, I'm not to happy about that. Does anyone make a rail that the fittings can go all the way in? I wouldn't mind buying o-ring fittings if the would thread all the way in.

Does this really look all that bad?

FAST has some with the O-ring fittings. I know there are others as well. I am pretty sure the price tag is higher on those BTW.

If thats what you want look around. They are made.

LOL! its 23* outside right now and I am workin on someone elses car. I soo need a garage and not a carport.

If you are turning the fittings in by hand realise you will be able to get a few more turns on them with a wrench.

All in all I say get what you want. But it still looks clean either way.

I turned them as far as they would go. If I would have tightened them any more, they would have broken. Do you know what kinda fittings yours are?

Are you using teflon tape or a liquid teflon?

Liqid teflon with Aeroquip AER-2007 fittings. I've actually already sent the aeroquips back in exchange for the Earls to see if they are any better.

I'm sure the ones I get will fit the same as the aeroquips. I sent them back before knowing that the NPT fittings were tapered. I'll probablly just run these and be done with it.

Go get a 3/8 pipe tap and run it in there farther. Then you can turn your fitting in more.

wow a car port.. that must be nice

i didnt think about it until now, but my front two fittings are called '-8 90* full swivel seal hose ends' and they tightened up flush with the speed rails... and you dont need the 3/8 to -8 fitting in between with them. too bad they were like $25 each!
