Fuel filter never needs replacing?

Fuel filter never needs replacing? I looked in my service manual for my SS and it says the fuel filter never needs to be replaced unless it is causing problems. I've never had a car that didn't call for the fuel filter to be replaced after a certain amount of miles. Is it really good to go without replacing the filter for that long?

No. The dealer usually does them at 40k or so. I do mine every 20k miles. The gas around here is pure garbage.
As an example, we've had 2 cars in this week that filled up at cumberland farms. Both died, and after we went through them, we found ****/water in the gas tank.
Just do it as a pre-cautionary maintenance thing. This will help keep your injectors in good condition and so forth.
They are under $20 bucks to buy anyways, and it takes about 5-10 minutes to swap out.

I don't get how it gets clogged though. There is already a filter on the fuel pump. Mine did get clogged once pretty bad so it does happen. I just don't know how anything can get past the fuel pump filter. How fine is the fuel filter itself? I need to crack my old one open.
