Default Newbie Q: How to disconnect fuel line?

So I want to run my fuel lines to the back of the engine instead of up front where they are now. But, how do you disconnect the stupid fuel line? How do you get a braided line (or a hard line) to connect to the fuel rail? I seached this forum, but didn't find the answer. I did see talk about some "quick-connect tool"?

I tried several different tools on my fuel line. The only one that worked was the SnapOn (Blue Point) FIH 9055-2 Disconnect Tool

I appreciate the lead. But, the problem with that is ya gotta find your local snap on truck, and spend $30+ bucks. I found it on their website, and the combo set is $60+. I'm spoiled, I get Summit stuff overnight cause I live close to their Reno warehouse.

Is there a way to modify the fuel rail to accept a normal connection?

These will work to disconnect your fuel line from the rail.. They're like $10 for the set at your local parts store. I think I used the 3/8" disconnector..

Mybe it's just me, but last time I was working on a buddies T/A we got the plastic set from Autozone and they didn't work for crap. The amount of pressure it took to finally release that connection was ridiculous, and the plastic piece didn't hold up very well. I have seen some metallic tools that seem to work far better. Since I haven't done this on many vehicles maybe the one I did was just difficult, but I remember reading about others who had a hard time as well. It seemed real simple and straightforward, but required a lot more force than we could apply to that plactic tool. I recommend something metallic if you can find it, best of luck to you though.

Is there a special way to use the plastic ones? I thought you just placed it on the fitting/line and pushed so it would pop loose. But I sure can't get mine to pop loose.
