Default Help Me With Fuel Injectors

My duty cycle for my injectors with my 228/232 .588/.595 cam is 98% So i was thinking that i was going to upgrade to 42#'s. What is a good one to go with? red top or green top or Delphi. Where can i get the best deal on them too?

Thanks

red tops are all you should need with stock cubes. In fact the first thing that comes to my mind is you have a fuel pump issue. Upgade your pump and then look into a bigger injector. This is a cam only 346?

i use the ones from racetronix. i believe they are the green tops. you will need to change the injector voltage offset table. they go rich on decel. i found a post saying , i believe 12% decrease, but may have been only 10. once i changed the offset table they worked great. well except for the 185% duty cycle. lol

The 42's would work fine, just make sure they are accounted for properly in the tune..

I'm about to use the GTP injectors (40 lb @ 58 psi) since I have the GM ASA pcm files that uses them, so when I change them the tables will be "correct" for the injectors, and they are cheap if bought used which is a big plus.

I'm actually about to use a cam almost identical to yours with some heavily ported heads and more compression, should be interesting.

42's sound like a little too much to me as well for what you have. You need a good injector that is the appropriate size for where you are at, not for future mods down the road.

Personally, I think a set of 36# SVO's would be perfect. I actually have a low mileage set I am looking to sell for cheep. If you are interested let me know. Even if you are not, I still wouldn't go that big.

what do the SVO injectors flow with out Fuel Pressure? I guess what i am saying is that the SVO are really 30#s but with our fuel pressure they flow at 36#s????

How much you looking to let them go for?

That is correct. They run a good $300+ brand new. Mine have less than 4,000 miles on them, and I could let them go for $255 shipped.

I took a moment to go to the sticky. It took me to RC's website and I ran the injector sizing program for you. I used 450hp (flywheel) and it said 30# injectors at 43.5 psi would work for you. Now the red tops (30#SVO) I recomended would flow 36# and leave you plenty of room to grow. As was previously stated to big is not better.

thanks i did the calc too. i too got 36#s. i used 500 crank HP. So we are not to far off.

My other question is since my duty cycle is 98% right now. What will the 36#s do? If it lowers it which it should how low will it go and is it a good thing?

So when you buy the SVO 30#s, they are not the 36#s. they get the term 36#s b/c of our high fuel pressure. I just wanted to make sure that i was clear that is all

EDIT: what is our fuel pressure at the fuel rails?

Again, you are correct about the injectors. They are 30# SVO injectors that with our fuel pressure are actually 36# injectors. These would be right about perfect for you with a little room to grow. You don't really want a duty cycle to be 98%, the SVO's will not be that high and be perfect for the mods you have on your car.

You could look for Ford lightning 42# injectors on ebay. They can usually be had for pretty cheap. Or look for a set of 36# injectors. Honestly if you can find the injectors you want already used... You can save a little bit of money!

I still have the barely used (less than 4,000 miles ) 36# SVO's up for grabs if anyone is interested.
