Default Walbro 255lph vs. Racetronix system.

I am going to be upgrading a cammed full bolton ls1 to a 150 wet shot so I plan on upgrading the fuel pump as well. What is the difference between a regular walbro 255l pump and the racetronix kit? I realize the racetronix kit has a wiring harness that is supposed to give more power to the pump as it is needed as the factory wiring doesn't supply enough electricity at high loads. Is there anything else in the kit that makes it worth it?

The reason I am asking is because I have the chance to pick up a few deals on used pumps. I am wondering if i can just buy the plug and play wiring harness and do i even need it? Also are there any other cheaper alternatives for the harness. Really not in a hurry to do this so trying to save a few bucks where i can, in the end if its not worth it, ill just get the kit.

thats what ive been wanting to know as well. I see the walbro pump for under 100.00 and the upgraded wiring is cheap too....but, at the sametime, this racetronix kit is plug n play and it seems alot user friendly (nothing to worry about as far as soldering and worrying about connections). However, the racetronix kit is 249.99 while a pump/wiring and doing you own soldering can be dune under 150.00. So i dunno what to do.

the racetronix kit is a walbro pump. It has been modified to work with your stock sending unit. Get the racetronix kit(I did) and you won't be disappointed.

The difference and function between our pump and a generic Walbro is covered in detail in our ad with pictures here:

I would watch what ou see for cheap, especially on Ebay. Many of them are universal pumps requiring removal of the bucket causing pickup problems. In the end, you get what you pay for and MOST of the time more expensive means better quality.

It's also a PITA to change the pump. Do it once, do it right. You can always throw the hot wire harness in at a later time.

A good read. Thank you.

It's crazy, I've actually been contemplating starting a thread just like this and I see you're in the exact same situation I am and asking the exact same question!

After reading the link by Racetronix I believe I'll pay the extra cash for the kit.

I vote Racetronix because that is what I have had for a couple of years and it is plug and play with with wiring harness.

all I have is the Walbro 255 and so far I have been very happy with it. Before I went to my 408 I used just that on my heads cam stock bottom end with 26# injectors and sprayed a 200rwhp shot off the fule rail and never went lean at all

$230 for the complete kit with upgrades is awesome. & no need to cut the bucket is reason enough for me to do the racetronix kit.

The truck setup is slightly different, but I could build something for your application. I will need your specs to determine how much pump you actually need.

Give me a call this week.
